Well here's another project for me and one of my roommates.

It's an 87 N/A MR2, 5spd, 186k miles, ONE OWNER. As far as I can tell so far there is not a spot of rust larger than a dime ANYWHERE on the car. The PO was the original owner from 1987. He had the car under sprayed with a protective coating which has done its job perfectly.

PO couldn't get it to start after letting it sit for a year. It has since sat for a year. Last time it ran was ~2 years ago. Sounds just like the turbo I bought a while back. ;)

Battery is charged and I'll crank it tomorrow morning to see if it will do anything. (spark up, throw codes, etc...)

[strike]I'm getting an engine 6.

Any ideas? It's not a code listed in the trsm.

***Edit, its an rpm signal code.

Distributor circuit, ecu... etc. [/strike]

**Edit engine code gone. Now it just won't start. It cranks, but does not start.

try to recheck the codes. you did bridge the ports for diag. like you do in the supra right? make sure you use the right pins.
You shouldnt get any other codes other than what is listed in the tsrm

Not bad. Too bad about the dent, I wish mine was that rust free. Looking forward to seeing it cleaned up.

Looks like a clean little car, they can be fun in the turns, but normally a bit underpowered.

underpowered with just the 4age but you can change that. I was running a 55 wet shot and that little car was QUICK! and now I just finished my SC swap with HKS pulley and will be hooking up the nitrous here pretty soon. It is defenitley a stop light to stop light warrior.

I could also leave most cars behind in the twisties no matter how much more power they had over me

anyone ever deal with the gas tank or fuel pump on these? I'm having a he'll of a time getting the rear of the tank loose.

I got 4 lines undone and can't see why it's still hung up.

its wedged up there really good. the easiest way is unbolt the entire hose assy. that runs up into the engine compartment. dont forget about the filler tube either. are the brackets undone? did you disconnect the harness under the shifter column?

mr2oc is going to be you best source as well as getting the online tsrm that is available

Got the tank out and back in. A few evap hoses are still not clamped on, but all hoses are "seated".

With a new fuel pump, the car started right up!!! (well sort of...)

But now it idles just fine. Woo Hoo!!!

Another car that sat for 2 years cuz the P.O. couldn't figure it out and I got it in a few days... :)

I'm getting a little cocky now. This car will probably explode on me once I get it on the road because I jinxed it with that last statement...
