Matt: It's around a 2 hour job if you know what you're doing so that quote is a joke.

well thats ridiculous, must be trying to get a little extra money out of me lol,
yea i went to him because my rear end was howling and he said that i should just buy a full pumpkin with everything assembled in it already, and just swap it out, he said it would take that long because of the independent suspension and all that.

Yes and that was being conservative, it can be done much quicker if everything is laid out ready to go.

Tell the mechanic to go fuck himself. There are no more than 25 bolts to take off (4 driveshaft, 4 or 5 differential, and then 12-16 for the drive shafts, which easily retract) and the job can easily be done in under 2 hours.

Get a bud to help have a read of the TRSM and go for it :)

It's really basic and you'll save $500.

Make a day of it, cooler with some drinks and a pizza and if you get stuck at all jump in here and ask.

Good luck and make sure you have a very good friend to help you push that pumpkin up I did that by myself and that thing is heavy. its doable about 2 hours.

Well maybe not a "good" friend just in case ya drop it on him ;)

A trolly jack is your friend on this job!

yep, that falls under the category of "work smarter, not harder"

Yeah that's ridiculous. I've done it in around 3 hours or so and I'm not famous for being super quick.

It's not that tough at all.
