Was wondering if anyone's had any luck getting new strut caps from the dealership? I went to the local parts counter and they only sell the entire shock mount, which obviously I don't need. I checked on partznet, and the rubber cap wasn't available there either.

I haven't called the local dealership yet because I wanted to check with you guys to see if anyone's had any success finding an alternative to the stock piece. I know suprasport sells the poly strut caps, but they're 70 bucks! Was mainly wondering if anyone's had luck sourcing something from Energy or another bushing manufacturer.

As always, thanks in advance...

Will do...I'll contact my local dealership tomorrow and post the price I get them at. I was hoping someone would pop on and say, "oh yeah the MKII/MKIV or whatever ones are the same and you can get them in poly for half what the MKIII ones are"

I just feel slighted as a Supra owner. I don't think it's fair that my roomate can get a full bushing kit for his Honda for under $200...

Although every time he rides in my car he's like "Damn it's not fair you have torque" so I guess it's all relative...

Ok, went to my local Toyota dealership, and I ordered those rubber strut caps at $17 apiece. Also, lifesnotfair--I checked on the rear strut hat (the whole metal piece) and they came to almost $120 apiece. You can almost get a set of tein pillowball uppers for that much...

I'm such a n00b though...I should've checked w/ jay marks first--they're only $12 apiece through them (according to the link given by supra90turbo above) and they're light enough shipping shouldn't be $5 each.

Also, lifesnotfair, check this out:

You may have to confer with others, but from this information it looks like there are three different versions of the rear strut hat, some at half the price of the ones I was quoted! May want to check with others or call Jay Marks/Champion directly to find out more on this one. Hope this helps!

The cheaper parts (with lower part numbers) are typically obsolete. The prices reflect the fact that the last time they sold the obsolete one was years ago. Toyota often updates parts over the life of the car, and the newer part number with a higher value in the last 2 digits is typically the one they sell today. Sometimes they do issue a new part number, and then obsolete it and revert back to an older number, but that is rare. When they do that they usually put the current part number in brackets.
