I just got one and was wondering if I can just screw the mount right onto the top of my vinyl dashboard?

i just tossed mine in front of the lame-o stocker. i dont see why it wouldnt work on top of the dash, as long as the mounting screws can get a good grab on something a little more solid below the vinyl.

Yeah I just tried it and the screws didnt have anything to hold onto. I take it that I should try longer screws? BTW is yours mechanical or electric? Im trying to think of ways to hide the vacuum line.

yea that guage was mechanical. thats my old car, sold a few months ago. you could try longer screws. hopefully there is something down there for em to grab, or you could spend a day, pull the dash, and use nuts on the scres to hold it on there. thats part of why i changed my mind from mounting on the dash. the other reason is i like it hidden away like that :biglaugh:
