Automatic Transmission question

Okay I know that in 92 the transmission shift points were revised, but what I'd like to know is this: is the transmission controlled by the same ecu that controls everything else, or is it controlled by its own ecu? Or are the shift points revised by hardware on the transmission itself?

it has its own ecu and shift point rivised by hardware in the valvebody

The trans ECU recieves input from the engine ECU to make shift timing decisions. The 91 and 92 are the two best.
