Ok guys i need help with this problem im having with my transmission its came to my attention when i was racing a S2000. When I have the car in D (Drive) and over drive turned off, once i start accelerating and it gets to 30-38mph it will shift into 2nd but after that it feels as if the car is in 2 (2nd gear on the tranny) and stays there. I could be on the freeway driving 80mph and it will still be in that same gear, holding it at like ~4500rpms. I talked to SPD TRP and he suggested it was my 2nd gear solenoid, in the transmission. When i put the car into O/D it will shift up into 3rd, of course once that gear reaches its limits it does the same thing just stays in 3rd wont goto 4th.

I need some serious help with this problem and how to fix it would be great.

If you guys need anymore info on the problem let me know i want to get to the bottom of this.

Thanks

do what im doing.... go 5 speed lol. i swear i have the auto tranny from hell and 5 speeds are just way more dependable. as for the problem at hand, it may be the solenoid but you may want to check the ect on the right kick pannel and the TPS ( throttle positioning sensor).... auto trannys are a pain in the ass.

good luck

I had this problem once!

I went WOT from a stop, and it went away! It took off in second and around 6000 RPM it shifted up, and never had the problem again!

But it seems like you need a drain, and refill. That may help, or may not. Cheap fixes first IMO.

My dad and I plan to do this, during the weekend.

Try disconnecting the ECT unit in the passenger kick panel and manually shifting the car.

Wheres the passenger kick panel? Behind the glove box?

The ECT box is the trans computer, disconnet it and you can still shift manually using the shifter.

This will tell you if it's mechanical or electronic.

Keep in mind it won't lock the converter.

1= 1st and 2nd
2= 3rd
D= 4th
