I have been having this problem for a while and it comes and goes. I did a search and no one really has the same problem. my front pass. wheel shakes and makes noise on and off? it can be driving smooth and then all of a sudden it does it. then it will go away. sometimes feels like the wheel is gonna break it does it so bad. I originally thought my wheel needed balanced because their is no wheel weight on it...but why would it come and go? It seems to do it after hard breaking but not all the time. Rotors do not pulse all the time when brakeing. Any ideas? Wheel bearing maybe....?

Have you taken simple steps to make sure everything is alright with how the wheel is attached to the car? Check your lugnuts....

Good point. Lol I have thought something was horribly wrong with my wheel and then I checked the lugs and they were finger tight. Definitely check those.

good thought, it just baffles me how it can be smooth at times and feel like its falling apart later.... i will check the lug nuts....makes sense. thanks for pointing out my own stupidity....always do the simplest things first!:icon_redf

well i checked and everything and it is nice and tight. no movement back and forth on the tire either. I can explain the movement it is making perfectly..... it feels like when you have really warped rotors and brake....thud thud thud thud thud.....right in the front passenger wheel. My brakes are not warped btw. Altough it does it sometimes while brakeing as well...any more help?

cv joint?

That's a good one.

Jack the said wheel up. Put your left hand at 9 o'clock and your right hand at 3 o'clock and try to wobble it back and forth, any play at all?

Now try with your hands at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock. Any play?

I come from a land down under
Just found the reason my DD was doing this.....

Bought it 5>6 years back and it's always done it, went through the suspension/steering and couldn't find it.

Had just accepted that now and again it'd shake and being my DD I ignored it.

On the weekend the front right brake was dragging on and off and pulling the steering, I limped it home and worked on it the next day, turns out an out wheel bearing had collapsed and eaten the cage.

The "shake" was all of the rollers bunching up and allowing a gap so the wheel could wobble at a certain speed (highway cruise, 5 mph up or down it was fine)

The car NEVER exhibited any signs of a failed bearing until the last day, replaced the bearings and it's perfect now.

Not saying this IS your problem but if everything else checks out it's worth looking at.
