well i did a little search and didnt find anything but was wondering. Come to find out i bought my car with a manual boost controler and when i got the car back together what boost can i run with out my stock pipes blowing to shit or something else going wrong. i asked a simaler question a few weeks back. I'm having the bottom end built with je pistons eagle rods and balanced crank. other then that its got a hks intake and a smaller then stock exahust after about the doors of the car to the muffler. so im just wondering what i can boost to with out something braking. thanks

alot. i ran 18+psi on the stock intercooler on my old ct26 and on my current sp61 and never blew a hose off or up.

edit. if you are running a smaller than 2.5 in exhaust at any point i really wouldnt push it much past 10-12psi

Also depends on if your BPV/BOV is working correctly and how tight your hoseclamps are. A tight BOV and a slightly loose hose clamp would pop a hose right off

1. running elevated boost levels on a smaller than stock exhaust is just plain stupid.

2. running elevated boost levels on stock IC piping isn't the best idea....especially given it's age/wear. upgrade the piping if you want to run elevated boost levels.

yea i figured id up grade everything befor i start really upgrading boost but just wondering if im ok to run 10-12 psi in its current state untel i get an exhaust and some pipes. its not that much smaller just a little looks like someone took it into the muffler shop and the muffler guy put some slightly smaller tubing on

i wouldn't even run 12 psi. it's pointless since the engine can't "breathe" w/your current exhaust. leave the boost alone until you have a decent exhaust....

well since it has had a boost controller since i bought it(with a rod knock i might add). i dont want it to go poof again when i go to drive it so really im just wondering what i should run the way it sits cuz as far as i know the guy could have it pushing way too much and thats why it threw a rod bearing

Hey, sorry to jack this thread but im running 2.5 IC piping with all t-bolts but the ends of the pipes arent rolled/barbed. Do i really have to worry about blowing pipes off at 10-14 psi?

not with t-bolts, you can get those suckers petty dang tight..

i went ahead and had a bead welded around my pipes though, 15psi on a ct26 isn't asbad as 15-25psi on a larger turbo..

probably not. none of my pipes are rolled and i've had no problems past 30 psi....
