There is a long threaded end and a shorter threaded end on the stud.

The shorter end had a provision for a allen wrench so that end must be up.
The longer end goes into the block.

My question :

When installing the stud, does the longer threaded end completely engage into the block or will there be some thread on the stud exposed?

Cheers,
Roy

I come from a land down under
Roy: Be sure to chase all the threads with a tap then screw the studs in finger tight only.

There will be some exposed threads but this depends on Late or Early block just how many.

Hi Ian,

I did just that...my block is a 88 and I have some threads exposed when I hand tighten the studs in place.

Cheers,
Roy

measure how deep they are going and and make sure they are all the way in

if they're not all the way in, you won't be able to tighten the head down...
