I'm on my way to the gym yesterday and I get a call "Hi this is blablabla from your credit union, did you authorize a whole shitload of charges totaling upto 1600 dollars?"

First thing I think is she's going to ask me for the three digit code on the back. I didn't think it was real. I NEVER used this credit card. I've used it 3 or 4 times this entire year.

Turns out, after calling the C.U. directly, its the truth. Somehow someone got my number. wierd.

I'm not too worried, they'll take care of everything for me, but the thing that pisses me off....

One of the charges finally posted to my card, so I call the number associated with it.

Its a third party cell phone payment company. Even though their bill was paid with MY STOLEN CREDIT CARD NUMBER, they can't tell me jack shit about the account.

I guess its time to go to the police :\

This is why I watch my main credit card's online account like a hawk... i'm usually in the online account twice to three times a week checking to make sure everything adds up.

Glad they're taking care of you... getting stiffed for 1600 makes it worthwhile to find out who did it... it would be so unfortunate though, crosswalks are dangerous places when they don't look both ways...

get rid of that card.

when and for what (if you dont mind) did you use it for? online at all?

they might still use those fake ATM slot things that steal your card info....

Yeah I watch mine constantly too, if they had not called me I would have found out as soon as this shit posted.

I'm trying to figure out who the fuck has my number but even though I am the one who paid for the product, not a single company will give me the fucking shipping address.

I'm thinking that's probably it, someone used a little hand held deal to swipe it when they swipped it for what I bought.

I've only used the card twice in the past three months, once was at Jack in the Box, and then at a carwash here in town.

Well you kinda have to see the vendors point of view as to why they wont give out a shipped address. What if someone stole your credit card info and started calling places you bought stuff from wanting more info about you?

Of course the vendor will do little to ensure whos who when its money coming to Them. However when its info leaving Them, they are more strict to protect themselves.

same thing happened to me man, I feel your pain.

the bank tells me it was most likely a card reader at a place I made a purchase ( I use my card very little). I noticed and odd $20 charge on my credit card when I was routinley checking my banking online.I knew it was out of place since I hadn't used it in two months. I called the bank and told them an unauthorized charge was made. apparantley about 5 other charges were on the card that hadn't show up online, including a $700 charge that didn't go through (I have a $500 credit limit). it all worked out in the end. They launch an "investigation" and found that I indeed did not make the purchases and refunded me all my money. I cut the card up and got a new one, changing all my passwords in the process.

don't stress too much, it's easy for them to pick out the ones you haven't made if you don't use your card much.
