Are these pistons good to use? Is this an example of piston slap?

Hi,

I am looking to be buying some used piston. The genetleman selling them says they were brand new less than 100 miles ago. But I see marks/scuffing on them in the photo. Cause for concern? Is this piston slap? I havent had the chance to look at them in person. And won't until I goto check them out when I buy them.

I'll be buying the crank and the rods as well. Possibly a fidanza flywheel and ACT HD clutch that have all been balanced together with the rods, crank and pistons.

Rods are eagles.
Pistons are JE.
Crank is a 6M that has been polished and balanced.
he said it will need bearings 10 over and under.

Are the pistons ok to use? What should I look for when going to buy these things?
Thanks for the help!

If the marks on pistons are only visual they are probably ok. If you run your finger nail across the marks and it catches they may be questionable.

If the rods and rod caps are not marked they will need to be resized. Each rod and rod cap are a matched set.

If the flywheel was balanced to crank make sure they where marked for location.

What happened to cause him to part out engine? I would be very concerned that his rebuild failed in 100 miles.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply! He said the car wasn't practical seating wise for his family so he pulled it apart to sell to get the most money. But obviously I am seeing those marks, I am concerned. Hopefully it is just grease or something smeared. If my finger nail does catch the scratch, think it's something a machine shop could fix?
