AFC = Air Flow/Fuel (not sure which) Computer
VPC = Vein Pressure Converter

AFC adjusts the airflow the ECU see's, the VPC replaces the AFM so they're not really in the same league of comparison....

from what iv'e read the VPC does have slight tuning ability, based on 2 knobs and a switchable chip, but that's it, you'll want to use an AFC or an EManage with it

You are correct, sir! I run the VPC along with the S-AFC. There are many ways to get your fuel, but this one works for me. Mainly because the VPC was the only thing I could find 8 years ago...and it still works!

I like the VPC because it was simple to install with it's own harness, but it is limited in its adjustability. You can only adjust the gain +/- 12% across the whole fuel curve. However, the AFC lets me go the rest of the way, so overall I'm pretty happy. There are better options out there right now (PHR MAP, AEM, MAFT) that would cost as much or less than the VPC/AFC combo. It was just since I already had the VPC, I'd keep rolling with it.

The IC piping is "how about I put a T-series turbo on the HKS mani and now the outlet can't face down or it hits the side of the engine bay now I have to point it upwards" kinda thing. REALLY big PITA. I just should've bought the RPS manifold. :(

HTH...

just to go into a detail SLIGHTLY more....

VPC: ONE tuning point as said before 12% across the ENTIRE rpm band..also has a "harsh" signal, uses speed density.

AFC2: TWELVE tuning points, uses stock KV signal.

used in conjuction the afc has been known to "clean up" the VPC signal.

how does a map ecu such as the power house racing one or the aem as a tuneable ecu compare to everything else?
or rather what set up should i go? in the end i want to be pushing around 600whp.

also what do yall know about microtech tuneing comp ect. @ centralfloridaturbo.com

MAP ECU a piggyback that will get rid of the AFM and allow good control over the fuel curve. It is possible to be tuned by most people, after studying and learning it and not a bad deal.

AEM is a standalone, you pitch the stock ECU in the trash because you think you can do a better job at tuning the car from scratch than Toyota did! Definitely the most bang for your buck and can do almost anything you can dream up but, it is real easy to get in over your head.

Microtech is a standalone, somewhat similar to AEM. A bit less money, not as many features.

It is a VERY good idea to have a wideband O2 if you want to do any tuning on your own. Otherwise, a trip to the dyno will be needed.

So how did you wire in the SAFC to the VPC system?

I know you guys have the harness to connect the VPC to the ecu ( or FCON to ECU)...

I am guessing you wire in the SAFC AFTER the VPC simply to "clean up" the signal??

Correct? I need this info.....like really soon. I have an FCON with complete harness, and the brand new SAFC II...and am in the runs of buying a VPC this week!

thanks,
