Funny, I hadn't seen those.

Not sure what I think though, obviously you don't get the benefits of adjustable dampening. Spring rate has to be fixed as well... does this just get you adjustable ride height?

my friend had those on his civic. You may as well give ME the money, at least i would put it to good use!:biglaugh: :biglaugh: They were crap. They feel worse than cut springs with terible struts. Please jake, dont waste your money. But im sure your smart.:naughty: :naughty:

theres a place where you can order them with any specifications(height, rate, etc.) for like $300, so you can get them with the proper specs, and use them w/ aftermarket shocks(if you have them), I dont think these would be a bad Idea

or just get some JIC's (my preference) and be done with it. just like anything else, you get what you pay for.

Jayson, try them and let me know... My car will be down for a month or two, or three... So you have plenty of time to buy, install and try them out... :bigthumb:

Megan coil overs are crap? I didnt even know Megan was making coil overs... I think its cool that they are taking the time to make SO many more parts for our cars... Maybe we should start giving them some credit...

Anyway, I know these are cheap, but for a way to adjust ride height I guess they wouldnt be bad... Or if you got them and put Eibach springs in there...

I dunno just a thought... *lots of those floatin around in my head* :D:D:D

Jake, I'm REALLY happy with the tein HAs.
They're only one way adjustable for bound/rebound, but they still do the trick quite nicely. I think the best setup (for the money) would be to order a set of Tein Flex from your favorite vendor, and have them order Type RA springs instead of the flex' wimpy spring rates. Then you get a nice, height/preload adjustable coilover with an adjustable damper.
I just noticed HPF has a set of D2 coilovers with pillowball mounts for 899.
That's pretty cheap.

Im still learning about turbos, Im not ready to learn about bound and rebound and flex and pose and ERRRRGH! lol... What's spring rates? Should I go with a higher or lower number?

I just look at what people are using and what works... TIEN sounds good... I've been talkin to Jeff about the D2s... I know what I want, so I guess I'll just ask around until I get it... Actually, I dont know what I want, I only think I do... lol...

HAHA!
I love your "I know nothink!" mentality Jake,
You're Big in the surpa community, You're Loved!
;)
If you get $300 coilover springs, and then get decent struts to go with it, you're looking at $700 plus shipping, and then your stuck with factory pillowball mounts, which suck.
Supras are heavy, if you get a wussy spring rate, you will bottom out your strut and eventually ruin it. Super spring rates make for a shakey ride, but can be "tuned" out with an adjustable damper.
If you got the D2 units, you get this
"* 36-way adjustable dampening
* Made from high quality 6061 Aluminum with T6 for increased hardness
* Compression/Rebound adjustable
* Adjustable spring perch for height adjustment
* Adjustable body allowing maximum suspension travel
* Pillow Ball Top Mount w/ adjustable camber (not available for some models)
* Monotube High Pressure Design
* Electroplated body for protection from corrosion and rust"
That sounds alot better than cheap unknown spring rates that could destroy expensive tokiko or koni struts that aren't rebuildable.

regardless of what you decide here are some things to keep in mind (not trying to discourage, but it never ceases to amaze me how many people don't get this):
coil-overs are a very good tuning tool, for those that want to tune their ride to fit their driving needs and styles. on the other side of the coin, it is very easy to make your ride quality go down the drain (no matter what 'brand' of c/o) without proper set-up. this includes (and is not limited to):
*ride height (in regards to suspension travel and built in suspension bind)
*spring rate
*spring preload
*spring bind height
*shock rebound and compression
*corner wieghts and for-aft balance.

i am in no way saying that c/o aren't for you, but they will need to be massaged to fit all of your needs and that no one else's 'needs' (driving habits, location, road quality, etc) are going to be the exact same. also remember that poorly adjusted c/o can make for a very dangerous and unpredictable ride due to upsetting the engineered balance of the car.

the nice thing about replacement components (stuff from koni, st, bilstien, B&G, etc) is that they are loosely designed to be an OE replacement, so they will work with little to no modification (read: adjustments) for 95% of the people that buy them.

again, not knocking anybody, but these are some things to keep in mind when purchasing ANY suspension components.

Very True, as with any modification, you need to get what you need. No one else can make that call.
I was surprised that SCC actually had some really good suspension articles in the last few issues. Don't go to low, map out your geometry, and above all else, Get what pleases you the most. Ride in other's cars, find out what you do and don't like about suspensions.
And above all else, READ about spring rates, bump and rebound dampening, roll center, roll couple, instant center, scrub radius, anti dive, anti squat, etc...
All of these things have a real impact on how your car behaves.

I come from a land down under
I'm NOT a big fan of "Adjustable" things in as much as 9 times out of 10 you adjust them once maybe twice and never touch them again so all of the added complexity and weight is $$$ wasted.

Not to mention as both BWest and Jake have mentioned it's easy to "Adjust/tune" your car into an ill handling uncomfortable PoS.

Good set of Springs, Shocks, Sway Bars, New bushings and someone that knows what they're doing to do a 4 wheel alignment can give you a sweet handling Mk3 as our suspension is very sophisticated for an old car.
