Shot in the dark here but Im curious to know if anyone is actually running an aftermarket MAP sensor with OEM ecu. an MSD 3 bar MAP sensor is $65 brand new a GM Map sensor is around $50. yet everyone is willing to pay up to $200 for a used Toyota one. Now Tissimo says the Voltage is a little higher on the OEM one, but thats something that can be addressed. who here actually has a non Toyota MAP sensor?

Unless it worked identical like stock, it's not going to work.

how? its a pressure sensor. only differnce would be the voltage, I can understand having to make adjustments, but why not work at all?

That is so much of a hastle it's not even remotely close to being feasable. Just get a MAP ECU for $200 used. Problem solved.

Huh? the sensors read at different voltages thats it. which means the Air /fuel ratio might be to rich or too lean, its nothing more than making the right adjustments to compensate. I still fail to see what spending $200 on a MAP ecu is the resolution. if you arent going to elaborate on this just dont comment.

Well WTF good is using another map that gives the wrong voltages? The car is going to run like crap and you'll be blowing motors.

What good is a MAP ECU?? It has a built in 5 bar map sensor thats calibrated for the 1JZGTE's ecu. Not only that, it also has PC software for tuning a/f to 30psi. Yes, that means you can run 30psi with a piggy back. The 2JZGTE guys can get close to 900whp with it. The MAP ECU 2 can do anything a stand alone can, with the reliability of using Mr Toyota's ecu.

I was thinking about this the other day too, scince mine is maxing out at 1.16 bar, I have a Mines ecu so there is no boost cut. But the Toyota MAP sensor reads x-volts for x-boost, now if you change the MAP sensor with different calibration, it will read more or less volts for the same amount of boost, but the ecu is still thinking x=x, so it wont work right. I think I remember someone tested a bunch of different MAP sensors and listed the volatge/ pressure readings.

Different manufacturers have different specifications to produce their sensors. Generally speaking, they are NOT compatible. If you have technical information on the stock and the one you wish to replace you can compare and decide.(If you have a technical background) Otherwise, NO, you will probably end up breaking something.

Where can I get a map ecu harness for the 1jz? I've been looking, but can only find ones for the 2jz.
