OK
i'm thinking about using a pulley kit for the altenator, a/c, ps, and mechanical fan but i don't know if i want to use the underpulley b/c it cost to much. what do you guys think? will the kit give me any problems w/ or w/out the under pulley? i was told if the under pulley isn't a damper pulley it will mess up my crank or something, can anyone confirm that? if i don't use the under pulley but use all the other pullies will that damper problem go away?

so you are running the mechanical clutch fan then right? if you are what radiator are you running w/ it? so since the kit has been on your car for a couple of years the kit should work fine w/out anyproblems just as long as i use the stock crank pulley or a damper under pulley right? i'm thinking like you i don't want to spend lot of money on just 1 pulley

The Fluidampr didn't seem to sit right with the stock idler pulley. I had to put a washer and shim the idler pulley so it wouldn't rub against the larger fluid filled damper area.

I'm guessing all 2JZ tensioners are the same (GTE/GE).

The BL pulley is supposed to be the ATi or the Fluidampr one, I read on SF, just renamed by BL, that's what I read, but I'm not 100%.

I got them in today - they are very well constructed - nice pieces.

I bought the complete unorthidox pully underdrive kit i think it was mvp or one of those complete kit for just under $400
I have a 110 amp alternator so the under drive system does not effect it.
Been running with it for about a year no crank walk or problems people make up about them.

beside the biggest crank destroyers is huge multi disk clutch systems that put to much strain on the crank directly from the back of the engine.

Ive never heard of people relating the crank walk to an underdrive pulley. I dont really know why you would either. All of the crank walk I have seen has been related to SINGLE plate high-pressure clutches.

There are 2 ways to increase the holding force of a clutch: Surface area and pressure. Materials matter too, the other factors make the biggest difference.

Multi plate clutches, by design, are better for a thrust washer than a single plate. A multi plate clutch rated for 800 hp (for example) wont exhibit the same amount of pressure on the thrust washer as a single plate. Look at the ratings for multi plate clutches.... Look at the clamping force... Clamping force is a synonym for "force on your thrust washer". High clamping force isnt always good for your engine.

Sure, many people have success stories with their single plate. Lots of others dont. Including myself.

So what kind of difference's have you guys felt with having the pulley kit on the 7M or 1JZ? I'm thinking about ordering a set from driftmotion when they get some back in stock. It'll definitly make the engine bay better looking. So, for $50 it's probably worth it either way.

$80 shipped off ebay for powersteering pump, alt, and waterpump. 2jz kit. Had to put them on a lathe to soften the belt grooves, they were knife sharp.

i have this same kit and installed it without doing anything.i didn't really look that hard at the grooves though.two year's with no belt issue's and many time's up in the 7000rpm range.

i never noticed any gains with mine beside's cosmetic.they look good and saved me from buying a $100 water pump pulley from toyota.the only pulley in my kit that is a different size was the alternator, slightly larger.

I'm running in the 8500rpm range (stock cams/springs), i didnt want to take a chance. It only took a few mins to fix the sharpness in the garage. I might actually switch to a MKIV 6spd dampened accessory belt tensioner too. I did the pulleys just for cosmetics, I had bad experences with underdrive kits in the past on other cars.
