Strut bars' primary function is to reduce chassis flex. In a targa top/convertible/t-top car, this is more important as the chassis will flex more. In a hardtop, the chassis doesn't flex as much.

An anti-roll bar will reduce roll more than a strut bar will ever be able to.

Definitely get some springs and struts. And dont cheap out on them either! You dont need to go out and drop major coin on some TIEN adjustables but maybe some Koni's or Tokico's and some good springs.

I've heard RS-R's are a decent spring to get. They've got two types, down springs, and racing springs. Iirc RS-R claims that these springs are stronger and stiffer than Eibach's.

They look pretty under the hood...;) I think they're supost the prevent the two strut towers from flexing inward towards each other during spirited driving. The strut tower bar is suppost to help imobilize them.

I put on one about a week or so ago, and it definently got rid of the body roll I had left from putting on my aftermarket suspension (KYB GR2 shocks and Eibach springs).

strut-tower bars (which im assuming you mean) do absolutely jack shit on our cars. and i want someone to prove me wrong.

come down here to tx and ill show you the arrival and departure angles into my appt complex and show you how the front end flexs alot (91 sunroof) going over the drive way and speed bumps. big difference.

win a battle for the internet by parking on level ground, taking off your hood, a taping a piece of string across your front strut towers so that it is tight. Now go take a turn or speedbump and take a picture!

nobody even knows what the point of one WOULD be... except for starscream..

the tape thing would be very useless... have you ever done it? didnt think so.. why in hell would the strut tower bars come apart?....

and i realy dont picture them coming in very much at all.. and even if they do, it would not affect performance. sway bars and suspension mods would be much better than CHASSIS MODS... because thats what a strut tower bar is a chassis mod, it really has no correlation with the suspension.

wow didnt think this would turn into an internet battle. I know what they are used for i know how they perform i know suspension and everything like that. However they should help with body roll more than just stock. I am upgrading to KYB's and the springs are under debate right now. Money is tight however(mKiii owner) im awaiting my next paycheck to get the struts and then the springs hopefully after that

Natan - Look at it from an engineering standpoint. Strut bars add stiffness to the chassis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the car...the biggest effect is if you have a front and rear strut bar. What this does is reduce perceived roll inside the cockpit due to less chassis flex along the longitudinal axis. This assists the suspension in doing it's job...makes it more predictable.

A bigger effect on body roll is achieved with better springs/dampers or coilovers. The nice thing about coilovers is the ability to adjust height (reducing center of gravity) and rate (make the suspension itself stiffer). Swaybars also greatly assist controlling body roll...the solid bars commonly added to a Supra suspension add stiffness.

The targa found on many of these cars is a problem from a chassis stiffness standpoint. You just took a chuck of structural integrity out of the middle of the car. You'll see a couple of solutions...the targa top brace that replaces the support/stiffness afforded by the top and the cage type braces behind the front seats.

jdub is right changing around the whole suspension will help with everything body roll and all of that. I have a hardtop so i dont have very much flew because of it however i do still have body roll putting this bar on made me realize that i really really need to update my entire suspension and everything like that. I researched after i posted this and found out alot more than i would have jusat guessed on.
