Hey all. Since i finished my build i have wanted to get a my aftermarket cam gears on and then put a clear cover. The only issue is that they are pretty damn expensive, a cheap one from Asia is about 180 shipped. So being that i am at an engineering school with an amazing plastics lab. And i am currently taking plastics, i was thinking about making the mold and then making the parts. I just was wondering how much interest there would be in these if i could make them at a lower price. Let me know what you think. If i see a big interest, then i think i will start making the molds soon. Let me know.

What do you guys think a good price would be? 100 dollars shipped?

I found a video on youtube of one.

a picture would be nice to see what it would look like :icon_bigg
They will look identical to the stock one, just clear. I haven't decided which plastic i will use. I still have to do the cad drawings, then make the aluminum mold and then do the run before i could show what the will look like. I think i will have 1jz-gte in the mold and Toyota. I have also thought about keeping the yamaha in the cover. I think that is an awesome part of the 1jz history. I am not sure what i am going to do yet. I will start the drawings soon.

You can search online or ebay to find clear covers. They are out there, just expensive.

you can buy the greddy ones for 150 dollars. But if you are making them with Toyota and yamaha logos.......it may suit some people.

I'd actually be one of those interested in it just saying 1JZ in the top left hand corner in protruding text, I've been around RB's all my life and always loved how they did that.

There are two variations of the early 1JZ cam gear covers, besides the stupid sticker.. wtf lol

one that says yamaha on the front in big letters and the one that doesnt. I personally do not have the one that says yamaha on the front. Mine just says toyota. ('92 jza70 out of a TTR)

hmm. I've never seen 1JZ on any 1Js anywhere other than the block.

Anyone got a pic? Maybe I'm just being dumb.

No there is a sticker that says it.. But to still have that sticker is pretty cool, I'm sure mine came off years ago lol.
