What's your opinion? Is it the same height as stock or do you have to cut it?

Yep, its stock height. Its basically the same shifter as th C'z...except they did some minor tweaks and revisions....just to help it out.

The SS shifter is from what I have heard TONS better than the stock shifter unit....

Honestly the throws of the stock shifter are starting to weight down on me a little....grabbing second after 1st is that much harder it seems.....hmmm

I am going to get the shifter once my $$$ allows me to.

I would love to have 50% less throw at the stock height...which the stock height is optimal and PERFECT....

Ironically people say that the mk4's "stock height" is alot better...when in actuality the shifter unit itself is nearly identicle in height...its just the shifter boot/console area is raised up about and inch to give the apperance of the "short shifter"....

good one toyota! :crazy1:

That's the way most cars are. Older cars like the MK3 just look taller, but they're not really.

I just started to use what we think is a JDM C's shifter. What's strange, is two seperate used JDM transmissions came with these on them, and one has two pins locating the shifter, and the other only has one. The one with two pins is much better, and the other that I'm using works fine, but is sloppy with only one pin. (Allows the shifter to rotate some, but does not cause any missed shifts, just a sloppy feel to the shifter somewhat.)

I'm going to mod this shifter (It was traded for a Permacool 16" fan) with another pin and grove in the shifter to eliminate the slop. I'm thinking of changing out both pins actually, as the grove is worn somewhat due to the movement, and a larger pin diameter, and re-cut grove will restore the tight tolerance I'm looking for. I also might coat everything... LOL

Height is much lower than the stocker, but it looks better. Also I have long arms, so even with the seat back all the way, 1.5" further than stock location, I can reach the shifts easy. One more inch of height would be perfect I think however. (Looks are nice, but function is really what matters.) Perhaps I'll cut the shifter and weld up a longer one? Don't know yet as it is working fine, and tuning the car is more important to me right now.

I think the SS one with an adjustable shaft is a great idea. Can't beat the cost of the one I have however.
