I've been getting more and more requests for sunshades but I don't have any brackets anymore. Originally I contracted a tech college in Wisc to cut them out, but am now in the Seattle area and haven't been able to find anyone that can make them reasonably.

I just got a quote back yesterday morning for $11.82 a bracket (4 required on each shade) which isn't going to cut it at all. They were going to use something else, can't remember what right now.

All I need it the flat stainless cut out and then I have a jig to bend the tabs.

It's the bottom bracket in the pic. The top one was done by CNC plasma and obviously not as clean.

Thanks
Kevin

I come from a land down under
Kevin: Grab the yellow pages and look up "WaterJet Cutting" it'll give a MUCH nicer finish with minimal cleanup needed and once they digitise the design should be quite affordable.

Was thinking about calling them too, but CNC machines are fairly rare at tech schools, has to be a pretty big program and they didn't appear to have anything.

I'm over by the water on the west side of Market. You?

Kevin: I  WJ cut parts as there's no heat affected zone which makes any more machine work much easier.

If you can find a shop that isn't hammered with work the price should be good.

Called the one company... Started ringing to a fax machine. I may stop by the address tomorrow on my lunch to see if anyone is there. They're in a hanger at a local airport which is interesting.

garagefujimoto: I'll take a better pic and label the dimensions for ya

Hey University of Washington has a massive water jet. I went to an engineering program show and tell a while back and watched them use the water jet. They don't really use it for much or when I was there they didn't yet they were just cutting out Husky key chains...lol But it is brand new! May try there tho!

I work for a major fabrication shop here in west central Florida. We have a laser cutter. Give me some more info like material used and what not and I should be able to get it done for probably just the cost of material.

Speeking of where I work, Although we dont do anything for automotive, mostly major large scale fabrication like example, we build the intakes and entire turbine sections for Westinghouse nuclear generators along with many contracts with military and government. If anyone is looking for a company like use or works for someone looking for any major large scale fabrication work, please feel free to look us up. www.smci-inc.com

That'd be perfect if you could do that. I'll PM you this weekend with more info about it and we'll go from there. I can probably just send you one too.
