So i have JDM taillights and the drivers side on im having an issue with. the studs that are attached to the light and that the nuts get screwed onto are "broken" off...they arent broken..but they dont stay solidfied in the holes in the taillight itself...

meaning when i put the taillight on and screw it down if i tighten it the studs pull themselves out of the taillight and if i dont tighten it down the taillight works itself loose and it leaks in there etc....

ive tried to jbweld them to hold them in there and it didnt work...im wondering if im screwed and im gonna have to find ONE JDM taillight...or cut my loses and get another set or if theres a way someone figured out how to fix this problem....

ill post some pics tomorrow since tomorrow is work on the car day after the bucs game ;)

thanks guys....

Ideal, have you tried Gorilla Glue? that stuff is amazing. i think it would work better than JB in a situation like this. i've used it on quite a few projects and have been quite satisfied with the results. just make sure you read the directions. :)

lmao shaeff, that's hilarious!

ideal, i'm in a similar situation as you, my extra set of usdm taillights are the same way on a few of the studs. what i'm going to do is use "plastic weld" its a two-part epoxy you can get at autozone or basically any autoparts store. i believe its made by permatex, but i'm not sure. it's in a black syringe and it will hold much of anything plastic to anything else. i dont remember what i used it on last, but i was quite surprised at how well it worked.

i'd give that a try, or whatever shaeff suggested. just dont do all the gluing while the taillight is on your lap...

ummmm shaeff, you werent trying to glue you're shifter in were you? or maybe i misunderstood what you wrote.

ROFLMAO!!! hahahahaa, no no no, i actually was fixing part of my dash that was ripped apart due to a thief breaking in before i got the car. the dash was snapped in half on the plastic area under the stereo, so the passenger side popped out from the tranny tunnel.

i drilled two holes, one on the top portion, and one on the bottom, cleaned both mating surfaces super well, and put some gorilla glue on/in the drilled holes, as well as the mating surfaces.

it happened to drip down onto a 10mm wrench i had sitting there (no stereo in it at that time) and glued that mo-fo solid to the tranny tunnel. it literally took about 15 minutes trying to pry that SOB off. haha.
