I'm installing an APEXi SAFC this week. I have all the directions and manual, but the instructions aren't that clear and I would like to hear from someone that has done it first hand. I have an 89 7mgte. Some tips on wire connecting and system set up would be nice. Thanks.

I figured someone that didn't know what they were talking about would reply before someone would answer my question. I didn't ask for opinions on what people thought was the best route, this is my route.

I wouldn't say that they "don't know what they're talking about". He's just giving you an option to a piggyback that will let you alter A/F, timing, and switch to speed density.

There are plenty of people on the boards who run/have run a SAFC/2/Neo

I guess you're right, I'm going to sell it and get a maf pro because you said so, lol. I meant you don't know what you're talking about pertaining to my situation(what I'm running, what I'm looking to achieve and how much I have to spend). I'm looking for feedback to direct me in a forward motion, not in reverse. But at least it created a nice debate, I love arguing lol

Yes I have in fact done this.

Sweet, what were you running and how did it work out for you in terms of installation, set-up and function?

Safc is base model when it comes to tuning. So simple easy and doesnt do the best job.

1 setup for 1 guy is his his setup and should not be used for another guy.

There is a link somewhere from some uk supra site that has step by step on how to set it up. Better to have wide band also to make sure you dont go lean at all.

Dont know what else your exactly trying to get out of this.

Thanks Hvyhitter lol I suppose you're not quite sure where this link is located exactly? Yea I have an AEM wideband, 550cc inj, Lexus afm... bunch'a other goodies. My local tuner shop owner and tech suggested the APEXi SAFC for what I'm looking for. Nothing extreme.

The maft pro is a much better option as you can control a lot more. Tho the safc will work and has worked for years. Tho lately i have seen some threads on some having to be sent back. Idk if it was the safc2 or the neo i forget.

No clue where its at. Used to have it saved on another comp but lost that a while ago.

I got mine from someone that used it on an Evo so it has already been used, but I'm sure just like everything else, more power more power more power. lol. My buddy has a 7mgte mk3 and had completely rebuilt the engine up and down, had the maft pro and blew his engine. He said it monitored fine, everything read right and he fried the rings and pistons. Dude's a tech at Toyota and was blown away.

What were his afrs? any kind of lean spike during a boost pull can melt a piston. Sounds more like it ran lean. Maft pro has boost control timing control fuel control and lets you get rid of the afm and go speed density. Its more expensive but the next best thing compared to a standalone. It also needs to be tuned correctly.

I used the safc on my 7m for years with the same mods pretty much, 57trim ct26, rc550, lex afm, SX afpr, walbro 255, innovate xd16 WB, mbc set to 15psi, fmic, custom hard pipes, bic ddp, blitz nut spec, safc2.

It's not hard to hook up and if you search long enough you will find all the info you need.... I did.
If your only looking for about 340hp to 370hp then you should be ok with the safc.
But your gains will be alot better with maf pro..

i was just saying dont waste your money on a neo like i did. just go maf pro from start...or since you already have safc street tune it since you have wideband
