Gary,

I talk to him almost daily, even though we live 350 miles apart. He's an honary old (76yr old) bastard. My motor came from him, i bought a car from him, and we have done several transactions. I love the guy, but he's getting a little trigger happy on ebay, because he has been in several bad transactions lately. He has also been in the hospital alot lately, and may be acting on medicine. Usually when he has an ebay problem, i hear about it right away. I haven't heard him bitching in a little while. He's a great guy as long as everything goes smooth. But if you make any requests, or even questions, sometimes he doesn't have time to handle it. He is retired military, and is a very high ranking member of the DAV. I have seen pictures of him speaking to congress, and pictures with the president.

What kind of problem did you have? I swear I won't just take his side of it.

Dear ForcedTorque,
I replied to you by email about a week ago with the message below. I suppose it didn't get back to you though. Here we go again:
Thanks for the detailed message about this guy. I sold him a set of pistons with rods and NEW rings for $49 including shipping on ebay, which resulted in a miserable $30 net for me. I thought that they were in great condition. I would not have sold them if I knew any different. I would rather send parts to the recycler than sell them if they are not good-that is just how I want to do business. Two weeks after I shipped the parts out he sent me this rambling email ( rings missing, damaged parts, etc) that was impossible to make sense of. He did say ( in one of his later emails) that he had been in the hospital for surgery and was on medication. I sent three more emails before I was able to narrow it down to, in his words, "a scorded piston". I think he meant that it was scored. That email was understandable but surely was not very polite! I offered to refund the full $49 and let him keep the whole lot. He can buy a new piston for under $49-NAPA has them for $38- and I would just take the loss. I have a 100% satisfaction score on ebay and I intend to keep it that way. That didn't seem good enough for him. He has sent out feelers looking for another piston and wants me to handle the transaction. I do not consider that to be an acceptable solution as he will probably end up with another bad one. At this point I just want to satisfy the guy and hope that I NEVER deal with him again. Maybe he will be ok once he gets better and off the medication?
Can you fault me for the way I handled this situation?
Thanks,
GaryB
