so my speedometer doesnt work and i was going to fix it when my tranny gets swapped (waitin to have enough for clutch), so i've seen TT's havin the option for speedometer and tach., i believe, atleast the greddy does not sure about the other. My question is, does anyone use the greddy tt's speedometer? or wat else can i do ? wat other electronic's could i use?

thanks

The MK3's speed sensor is in the speedometer, if that's not working there isn't much any electronics can do to show you speed, because with only RPM it can't calculate speed without knowing what gear you are in and what your gear ratios are.

The abs sensor is a speed sensor (basically). If you can find an electronic speedo that uses the same signal as the abs sensor then just install it. Or, as Jeff says, use the rpm signal and then combine it with the abs signal to calculate speed. ........ Gear indicator coming soon.... :evil2:

you can get the speed sensor from an MKIV N/A car (posibily a TT also, not sure if they are the same or not). It would go in the tranny just as the piece that goes into the tranny now that the speedo cable hooks to. it should work with most all aftermarket programble electronic speedo units. but you will lose the speed out signel that is needed of ECU functions. That could be solved with the little electronic black box of sort. The factory speed signal is a pulsing ground square wave single pulse per revolution where as the MKIV speed sensor is a 5v square wave (and if memory serves me correctly) 8 pulse per revolution.
