I just picked up a Comp 6562, rated for around 730hp, should have good spool characteristics too. Pricey, but a drop in the bucket overall for the project.

If you're looking for something on the cheaper side, OEM type turbos (Borg Warner, Holset, etc) can be found easily and relatively cheap, because they're used on THOUSANDS of trucks.

TE72,

First, what is your real name? Second that is a very 1JZ friendly turbo. I will be changing mine out to that one soon with a ball bearing and ported anti-surge cover.

Its a bit big, with its quite Large turbine..so a bit smaller turbine will give you a wider powerband.
65mm exducer is probably more than enough for 600hp.

there are a few YouTube-dynos with s300's too
BorgWarner are LOUD!;) Getting a s200sx in my 450hp drift-project now:)

No worries Andy, it came from Albert's recommendation for my car, he knows my driving style. I wasn't wanting a giant lag monster, gonna need some quicker spool to spin the meats that are going on my car. ;)

Should be *enough* for me I think. I'll let you know if I get to it before you do.

Plans are 1jz, e85, standalone. No idea what to expect (as this is my first rodeo). But it should be fun.

NICE Dustin, I feel like I helped somewhat in that decision :)

I'm running the same turbo as posted in the link by the OP. I absolutely love it.
Unless youve got some big power goals, I would go with the smaller S300 (60, 62 or 63mm) with a medium sized turbine housing.
Like you mensioned, with a goal of 600 whp max, might as well go with something smaller that will also peak at that with a better power band. No sense in having a 1000 hp capable turbo only used to make 700hp, when you could have a smaller turbo make the same power but spool that much quicker.

S362 is the far better turbo for 600hp.

(S30062FMW6780) or (BEPS362BILLET, if you are made of $$)

Also, to add to what 87 said above me, a smaller exhaust A/R would be nice, but unfortunately BW does not offer a smaller housing than .88 T4 v-band AFAIK. However, a custom match might be available. I was told by a BW rep that the factory options are matched to provide better efficiency versus other companies that just throw together different housings etc in an effort to make better response/ less lag.
