Any HKS BOV maniacs in here?

So I uhhh broke the fins on the BOV. Do not feel like buying new fins.. What does it sound like with no fins hehehe. I know different fins make different sounds but has anyone ever ran one with no fins?

Long story of how it broke on me.

Take off the four hex bolts holding on the housing and find out.

5 minutes tops, I know, I dissasembled one last weekend.

There are 8 hex screw altogether, but only 4 of them hold the cover on the BOV.

Uhh, I drop it it right onto a hammer while trying to put it up on a shelf from a ladder... Out of the odd it landed right on the hammers head. It cracked out one of the fins so I used a prier and broke them all off.

My car does not run so I can not find out how it sounds like hehe.

Did you mean it as in its bad or for me to try it out and see how it sounds like for everyone?

No it's not bad, it will work the same way regardless, unless you FUBAR'd it when you dropped it. The fins are plastic anyways and the chrome paint on them tends to flake off.

Just go ahead and take the insert out, no biggie, plus it's easier to do with it not installed like you have it right now.

I have had my insert out of my ssq before and it sounds kinda deep. The fins are what gives it the whistle sound. its only like $20 for a purple or gold insert at SS if you don't like the sound, but I liked it just fine. :biglaugh:

i actually took the fins out of mine, and i really liked the sound. its way quieter, and a little more mellow...

Any video of any kind? Is it like those turbo XS where its not high pitched?

I hate the high pitch I guess because every kid and their "gansta" have one around here and pitching it everywhere they go.

i really doesn't sound like much. just air venting kindof a whooshing sound and much quiter. its nice on those long freeway rides home not hearing a long high pitched whistle

probably a bit like the Type II...

it's functionally the exact same BOV (same main assembly), but without the smaller valve and whistle insert...

mine isn't vented, so I'm not sure what it would sound like vented...

I've come to the conclusion that my HKS sounds GAY below 10lbs. Anything over that and it finally stops sounding weak and chirpy. Over 10lbs it just sounds like high pressure air being released...no whistling or chirping.
