any advantages to adjusting CPS for more power?

only to adjust timing. Stock ecu actually provides a healthy amount of timing under load and at wot already(depending on air flow). Set it to 10* and leave it alone.

Though if you are using the lex afm or are pulling fuel to tune out fuel cut, pulling a couple degrees timing wouldn't be a bad idea as timing us calculated from load witch is calculated from airflow. Less airflow appears as less load meaning more timing.

well, i have the lexus afm, walbro, and 550's so i just curious if that would help at all. so would adjustable cam gears make a difference?

As poodles said gains would mostlikely be null. But if your tuning for max fuel cut pulling lots of fuel it might not hurt to be on the safe side and pull a degree or two.

so lets say i was planning on making a cross country trip with almost no boosting, would advancing a couple degrees help with mileage or atleast with the low end power band, 1500-3k?

Mostlikely not as the tccs actively seeks best timing based on feedback from the knock sensors. Don't forget the CPS also is timing for injection aswell.
