Is it only when your tstat opens?

Temp up and down could be the sensor going, a loose wire on the sensor, your water pump failing... check those things...

What kind of HG and head bolts do you have and what are they torqued to?

stock hg never touched
it has to be a sensor beacsue the engine cannot change temps that fast and the needle is gay. up down up down lol
the radiator isnt overheating or anything.
water pump isnt leaking
and new tstat and radiator but it dis this before 2.
i dont think bhg becasue nothing is milky. please i need to know becasue my dad is over here telling me to sell my car and it isnt going down like that.!

I would also torque down those head bolts as soon as possible to prevent BHG. Im guessing its just a sensor if its jumping up and down like that.

Burp your cooling system and see if the problem returns after that, it likely will...

The fluctuating temp. gauge is probably caused by air in the cooling system rushing past the sensor... You either having a mild BHG, or a pinhole leak in a hose somewhere, also try and replace your thermo cap and maybe the thermostat if it's been a while... Also, are you losing any coolant?

no i am not loosing coolant to any leaks. but i notcied today my reserve was low and it was half the other day. so i put in like a lil coolant to make it half and when i got to myw ork it was like alost full and the "excess dump black hose thing" did spit out some coolant but that is normall right?

o yeah new tstat as of 3 days ago and it is working fine. gauge will be fine for a couple hours then starts to fuck up and when the gauge is alll the way hot there is like a lil steam coming from the tstat and the reserve tank but all supras ive seen do that... the gauge will be all the way hot but the radiator and cap are warm not overheated or anything.

umm, my car doesn't do that... And the readiator probably wasn't hot...because there wasn't any coolant in it, lol, got burned up by the engine.

UGH...i REALLY hate to say this, but........BHG. :( Do a block and compression test and go from there...

When my car had a BHG, It did those EXACT same things... when the guage starts to go up, does it go down a little when you rev the engine? sometimes even all the way back to normal operating temp?

Adam, I hate to tell you but it sounds like your in denial. You keep trying to reassure yourself by saying "all supra ive seen do that" and what not, but its not good. And if you really knew it was ok, you wouldnt be asking. And I know how it feels.

The day my car started over heating, i was think wtf wtf, maybe its this, maybe its that, but guess what, it was only one thing...

I hate to hear that you may lose her, but be calm, and walk your dad through the fixing, just like us on SM will help you. Plus since you got the original hg, its gonna happen sooner or later.. :nono:

Drew

Btw: If your headgasket blows in different places, it may affect somethings and not other. IOW, it may not have blown through to the oil and coolant jackets, hence no milky oil. Check out Tony's BHG thread as if you've never read it.

my temp guage acted like a boost guage, it would drop to 0 at WOT, then i would let of it would shoot to red, drop back to normal right away. Replace the temp sensor. Id give you one of my spares, but you live on the wrong side of the world :p my car had BHG, and it would only act up on hot days, i could drive around all night and nothing, but as soon as it got a little warm out, bam overheated. I learned to deal with it until i could fix it. after a little while i could take the car from overheating, to running temp in 10 mins. I hope you dont have to sell it. My friend had hers when she was 16, and it was defnatly the best car at the school, including the teachers. If you need, i have a stock head gasket that ill send to you for free. I have no use for it
