What type of fluid should I put in my five speed when I get the swap complete? Is lucas 80 weight alright? What are you running in your fivespeed, and how much should I buy? I did a search and their was only four threads under "Manual transmission fluid" Neither one of them told me what I wanted to know.

Also, while I have your attention: Is it suppose to take an act of congress to remove the clutch pedal and brake pedal? In all of the 5 speed swap writeups I read, everyone just breezed over that part. It just saids remove the pedals, it doesn't say it will take you two weeks and your first born. Any help will be greatly appreciated.....................lol

I had the dash out when I did my pedals, was really simple. I think the oil for our transmissions is 75-90. Its in the manual somewhere.

I can't see anything about this swap being simple. Maybe it would be easier without the dash in the way, but far from simple. I think my patience is just being tested. At least that's what I tell myself so I don't get to frustrated. I'm hoping when I get the pedals done, the rest will be easy.........lol

If you still havent got the brake pedals out heres a quick pic I took.

Theres actually 4 bolts, one you cant see with the black box in the way. A medium extension should fit right through their with the socket on. If you dont wanna take your dash out, you can still get at it by taking off the panel under the steering wheel.

Thanks Yellow, the one by the black box is the one giving me fits. I may need a smaller ratchet. The 3/8/ extention I'm using doesn't fit through there very well. I'll try a 1/4" extention and see if that helps.

Do you know whether the previous owner used synthetic oil or not in the transmission? If not Id go with a non-synthetic and be sure to run the right weight.

I don't see how going to a synthetic oil or transmission fluid can be detrimental to the life of the car. What is in syntheic fluids that will harm the car? I'm not doubting you, but what is the logic behind this statement. I also think I read where MDCMotorsports said the same thing..................lol

I know if you switch to synthetics on a car w/ an engine leak the leak gets a lot worse.... Probably the same idea. It'll get low on fluid and toast itself.

I'd like to hear about any other problems though.
