i'm in the market for some suspension upgrades and had a couple questions. i know this has probably been asked before, but i couldn't find any answers.

first, i see a lot of people going with tokico's and lowering springs..... are the tokico's illumina's that much better than the blues or other brands, or is it to keep the tems working?
second, it looks like tokico's and b&g's will run around $650..... what's a better option at this price, those or cheap coilovers?
also, has anyone found the tokico's for less than $450 a set?
thanks in advance...........

well if your gonna waste 640 for shocks and springs you van just pay alittle more and get some megan coilovers for like 150 more.

imo the best shocks are bilsteins or koni's.

that's what i was thinking, but i'm not sure about the quality of an $800 set of coilovers. also, i don't want to slam the car, just lower it about 1.5 inches all around.

The illuminas are just to keep tems.

You can get blues for around 200 and kybs for much cheaper than that.

Also eibach springs are around 200.

yeah, the blues are about $200 less that the whites. is it worth keeping the tems, or will it handle good enough with the blues? i don't mind spending more if it will actually be better.
thanks.......

It will sort of just be like leaving it in sport mode all the time. It wil still ride smooth.

Tems is a novality option.

I've driven stock tems cars. My car came with tems but I've never had it working. I'm on coilovers now and am fine with that.

It's all up to what you want to do. You will get different opinions from everyone.

mine works now, but the shocks are blown. if i had $1000 or more, i'd get some good coilovers, but $475 for b&g's with blues sounds ok. i've seen a few posts that say NOt to use lowering springs with the blues......... will they blow out with lowering springs? if not, i think that's the way i'm going to go.

It's Not Important Bro
Don't underestimate the value in the Megan coilovers. They are a great value in my opinion, great reviews abroad. You don't have to pay $1k+ for a good set of coilovers. Personally, I run the Illuminas but I am keeping the "old school" them and my TEMS is operational with an HKS controller. +1 for eibachs as well. Great Value and quality. My car rides liks a dream!

You can use lower springs with the blues.

But if your not keeping tems you should get some kybs. There cheaper than the blues and they have lifetime warranty.

Just regular kybs. Most parts stores should be able to get them. Prolly special order tho.

No problem.

There is a company called BCracing coil overs which run 1000 shipped to your door with custom spring rates, and valving. They will be on my car when i can afford them

Ok guys. I ordered the b&g springs from driftmotion, and got the struts locally.
Last question..... Do i need anything else to make the shocks work? Are the strut boots and mounts the same?
Thanks again.....

Everything is the same. New top mounts would be a good idea.

Also you will need a spring compressor to take off the top mounts if you don't replace them. You can rent them at autopsrts store.

Usually with lowering spring you don't need a compressor to put them on.

Sweet. I'll probably get new mounts since i'm in there anyway. No worries about a spring compressor as i work at a dealership.
Thanks a lot hvyman.
