Sup, my name is Omar and I'm an owner of an 89' supra MKIII with a 1GGTE engine. I just recently traded my 1990 integra da for it=] I've gone through quite a few honda's and one acura(the da) and FORTUNATELY I came across a great deal on craigslist. I have respect for honda's but i've always loved supra's and i finally got one:biggrinki used to have a 95 gsr hatch on a reliable budget turbo set up on 8 psi and i was addicted to the boost. I miss boost! About the car...used to be an auto. converted to manual and interior, everything everything. Power everything as well:naughty: with lsd. I was told by the ex owner the engine shipped to him from Japan, too bad i couldnt get the proof:nono: Engine wise i would love to get a 2JZ or 1JZ swap, as of now im not too familiar with the 1GGTE engine (aftermarket parts) so i dunno if its worth modding, either way i still want a swap in the future even after i buy some stuff for this engine. I plan on painting red or silver. Havent decided on the exact color, as well as the wheels. Other than the FMIC and 2.5" piping it came with, the car is stock other than the swap. Interior, in the future i'd like some nice racing seats, sparco seats maybe and a roll cage. I have a lot of research and money saving to do but its gunna be a fun project!!! I hope to find A LOT more info on supra's in general using this website and share and help with what ever knowledge i can give to anyone. Here are some pics...(sorry for the dirty pics and my novel, i'll post better ones soon)

oh yea the guy painted the rear lights black

1G-GTE is 2.0 Liter twin turbo. IIRC it doesn't make as much power as a 7M-GTE. But good luck and that engine was never sold in the US.

im kinda familiar with the engine thats why i dont really plan on modding it. Right now i'd rather buy stuff that i can use for my next swap i.e. gauges, exhaust, bov ect. I wish i had the 7M-GTE:icon_bigg

Welcome aboard.

The 1g has almost no aftermarket support, anything there is for it would be very old and very rare jdm parts. It would be interesting to see someone build one up but you're correct in going with a swap as you'll be far better off. I'm curious to see what wiring harness the 1g is running off of, if its a 7mgte harness than you're pretty much set for a drop in.

i've done some research and found some parts as well as some wiring diagrams...

...i do plan on buying SOME mods for this engine and keeping it untill i get a swap and just have it as a spare, but nothing major, just parts I can swap over for my next swap i.e. bov, fmic and piping, maybe convert it to single turbo or bigger tt's like LilMissMkIII mentioned, most likely a single, injectors.....ect. A 1JZ or 2JZ sounds like a way better idea, way more boost friendly and a lot more power stock, so thats my goal. As for the harness, the previous owner bought the engine complete, shipped, so based off of that...i still dont know what exact wiring harness it has:biglaugh: I've never owned a supra so im barely catching on to whats obvious to others but with time and hella research im sure i'll catch on and become a supra freak and not a honda/acura freak like i once was:icon_bigg even though i have respect for them. I'd rather run 11's in a supra rather than a honda PLUS i have the benefit of being able to drift, even though those arent my intentions, maybe...:naughty:

& everybody thanks for the welcoming:icon_bigg

welcome!

why spend the money on the engine? what about brake lines, joints, bushings, fluids, coil overs or spring/shock, pads...etc. get the chassis in good shape before you worry about any engine stuff.

oh of course!! Right now the engine is getting wired up by David Landa from D. Landa Performance in Prosser, WA. Most trust worthy tuner i know from my area. At the moment what i really need to do is get a complete 3" exhaust with a cat(because i currently dont have one) and get braided lines for the brakes. Basically as of now i just want to do whatever necessary to make it driveable, legally(exhaust) and...drive it! For the suspension I'm thinking about getting some Eibach coil-overs and some new struts and shocks, dont know what ones yet there's a lot of good ones. But yea I was stuck on talking about the engine never mentioned all the other stuff lol. But im well aware that any car with engine mods also needs supporting mods in other areas and i do plan on upgrading A LOT of things, not just the engine=)
