Another Florida 1JZ swap

I just thought I’d share my latest project with anyone who might be interested. I bought my 1988 turbo/auto about 6 years ago and as many of you have or still are I went through a few iterations of the 7M by replacing head gaskets (1 Comp / 1 MHG), main bearings and other various things. Over the years I was also building up an arsenal of bolt on stuff for the 7M like modified CT26, 3 inch turbo elbow, Down pipe, AFPR, Walbro 255lph, SAFC, Wideband, 550’s/Lexus AFM and so on. Somewhere along the line I also swapped out the auto for a 5 speed. When I started getting a bit of blow by on my tired engine I had to make decision to rebuild again or go 1JZ. I decided to go with a 1JZ swap. I started where I highly recommend all of you start if you need parts, and that is with Driftmotion. I got with Aaron and he hooked me up with an engine and everything else I needed from a real clean front clip. Since I had all of the performance goodies and shallow pockets I wanted to utilize whatever I could and Aaron helped me do just that. I bought the CT26 conversion kit, IC, IC pipes, various braded lines, AFPR line kit, main seals, and on and on. Besides a great front clip and upgrades at really fair price, the customer service I received from Aaron and Driftmotion was awesome. As some of you know you just can’t put a price on that and it’s really important when you’re diving into unknown territory like I was. I just really want to thank them for helping me out and encourage anyone else who is reading this and needs parts, to give them a call. You won’t be sorry you did. I also wanted to say thanks to anyone who posted some swap information on this site. If you posted it I’m sure I’ve read it so that means you.

It’s not as sexy as Driftmotion performed swap but it’s the best I could do my first time out and it runs like a champ. I don’t have any Dyno results yet but it won’t be long and I’ll post them up when I have em.

This one is a 60 trim. I have a 60-1 on the shelf as a backup but I would think this one might work a bit better. It did on my 7M. I just had this one rebuit as I did my swap.

Oh and thanks

I beg to differ, you did a really nice job man! :aigo: I'm very impressed with your install from what I can see in the pics. Thanks for all the kind words and keep up the good work!

Great looking supra and you know I love the 1j..............

I've been curious about the ct26 on the 1jz. Now maybe I'll see how well it performs. Post up some videos asap.............PLEASE

Thanks a lot. After all that work it's nice to hear that it looks good. When your working on it so much you get staring at it for so long it's hard to judge on your own sometimes.
I realize everyone is really curious about the CT26 upgrade and how well it performs. Of course I looked everywhere too and saw very limited information. I thought I'd take a chance anyway and see what it can do. Yesterday was the first time I cranked the boost up to about 18 -19 psi and although I hit fuel cut I was able to trim it out with my SAFC. I must have been right at the edge because it didn't take much adjustment at all and it was gone. Looks like it's a good match with the 440's (actually flowed 440) and the stock ECU. I don't have a BCC or FCD and intend not to if possible. In any case it seemed very comparable to my 7m which dyno'd at 401HP (only 1jz smooth:icon_bigg ).

I know, I know, get on the dyno you guy's want real numbers.......
