started buying parts again, since the supra is down due to license lossage and now due to my not being happy with the current setup.
so, i started a list.
these are the first few parts to arrive. i cant wait. but i need a FFI...

TODA cam gears (pic below)
i also picked up a PTE "medium" IC --> http://precisionturbo.net/productdi...25&compid=101795&hdwt=31101&loc=101&dealer=no

things still to come:
make cold air box for new filter (4" inlet, 9" long :icon_razz )
i have a maf, now just need to pick up the translator
i want to adapt 1jz coils, but i may just relocate the coilpack
battery relocated to trunk
ffi + alt dropdown bracket because i will be retaining a/c
fix power steering
alum ds
safcII
greddy oil pressure, water temp and fuel pressure
walbro, 550s, aeromotive fpr w/all stainless lines
rims! i need to buy rims this time... no more sawblades, please...
st swaybars
get an exhaust that will last a while...

im sure there's more, but that's like $5k right there... so i'll stop before it sinks in too deep how much that really is... lol

progress will be updated.

my license was taken due to "7 surchargeable events" within a 5 year period.
so, i lost my license due to: expired inspection sticker (was an '02 sticker, and i got pulled over last year. haha), rejected inspection sticker, loud exhaust, missing exhaust, failure to yield (even though i yielded, and continued to drive for 3 miles before i was pulled over for it), leaving the marked lanes of a road (crossed the white line on the right side of the road, around a right corner), and a speeding ticket for i cant remember how fast.. but it wasnt crazy.. 71mph in a 55mph i think....

anyway, the state of massachusetts are all assholes.
never been in an accident, good driver, minus speeding tickets...
85% of tickets recieved i won due to them mostly being bogus. cops picking on a guy in a sportscar, i guess, because my friend can fly by cops standing on the side of the road with a radar gun, going 70mph, and they've not done a thing. twice with me in the car this has happened.

meanwhile, i get pulled over for such things as, gauges in the a-pillar.

i think i have a basic idea of what it feels like to be a minority sometimes...

nothing actually fell off...
the poorly welded exhaust hangers were coming off, and i removed the exhaust before it fell....
then what?
motor mounts collapsed....
but nothing fell off.

are they? i dont know... seems like the thing to do now anyway... i'm reconsidering the a-pillar thing, but people say they pull up next to me at night and hear the car, see the gauges, and is just intimidating like that... thats one of the last things on my list anyway.

if you'll look below this text, you'll notice that this is a supra.
but, i suppose this is better suited for general discussions... better traffic too...

cool!
thanks, Ian.

and i just read your explanation on how to install them here
http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=707&highlight=freeze+plug

so, looks like tomorrow i'm pullin the freeze plugs out of my spare block, and now start looking for pistons.

anyone have any suggestions?
im looking for personal experiences and preferences.

the only things that are a sure thing on this new bottom end are:
shot peened rods
knife edged crank
shimmed oil pump
toyota bearings

Kurt: No probs and as always very welcome!

I haven't ran em yet but quality/strength and nice pin oiling are key points on my new Ross slugs! :)

They're some seriously beefy pistons!

ok. i'd say 9 out of 10 DSM guys run ROSS pistons. ask them why? they say "because they're better"...
good to get a real explaination, here, Ian... haha

on that note, my friend has purchased a set of Ross for his 4G63 on the premise that "they're better" and "guys are runnin 9's on these"

i was inspecting one of his pistons, but he got all wierd about it, like "no.. dont touch it... put it back in the wax paper and close the box" type of deal, so i never got a good look at them...

haha... i dunno.... i guess Ross are it, really... i kind of wanted them anyway... too many people using JE's...

and did i hear something about Total Seal rings not working correctly on the 7m?

LMAO @ Mr WaxPaper!!

This is only a rough guess on my part but if the Total Seal rings are a hard material they might not be breaking in on a 7M block as Toyota have used the hardest Cast Iron I've ever come across!

Chrome plated rings suffer the same problems in a hard block!

is this one of the reasons i've never seen ridges at the top of a 7m block before. (where the piston would stop, forming a ridge from wear)

... or have i just not seen enough 7m blocks yet, haha.
