OK i just built a computer, and ive noticed it restarts itself when i either
1) unplug my mouse/ipod
2) close the case

my first thought was its the PSU, so i unplug some shit i dont need, and still saame problem when i close the case. Its a Ultra Grid case so u can google for the picture if u want.

So i opened the case, and kind of messed with different parts to see what could cause it to do it.
i jiggled the hard drive, nothing, dvd drive, nothing, my graphics card, nothing (i dont know why, i did it, it does not make sense, i know), my memory is fine, but when i just lightly tap my CPU fan (AMD fan that came with it) it restarts. no error nothing.

I dont think its anything to do with static, because ive had t hat suggested by a friend, but im grounding myself first every time,

Its an AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+ Dual Core. if you need to know the rest its:
XFX nvidia 590 mobo, XFX geforce 8600 GT XXX, 2GB OCZ SLI ready ram, 120GB Seagate IDE HD, and Lite-on DVD Burner, Black ultra grid case, 2 120MM fans with normal intake in front exhaust in back, and the stock fan that comes with the CPU.

Also , heres two pictures ive taken just now, if you need a visual =)

I hope some one can help, thanks
What do you think it is?

Does it do it EVERY time you unplug stuff or close the case? Does it bsod sometimes before it crashes? Mine does that because the molex connectors from the psu are weak and they fall out of the hard drive causing it to lose power. Maybe you can check that?

I say grounding issues... try touching the power button... touching the inside of the case... etc etc...

When I built mine one of my 4 pin power adapters was bad, and when I would touch the case it would shut down, I linked it to grounding issues

it was wierd, i tried Tapping the front of the case, with the amount of impact the case door would have, and it was fine, but if i close the case, it does shut off, i guess it could be grounding, ill try checking the pins for the power stuff. thanks. Anything else i should check?

Probubly bad solder on the motherboard, sounds like the CPU prongs that are soldered to the MOBO lose contact slightly when your case flex's. Just a possibility. Never heard of one rebooting from tapping on the CPU cooler. X-box 360 had alot of problems like that. Does your case door have a tamper switch on the door? Does your case flex when your door shuts? Some cheap cases will actually put a strain on your MOBO by flexing with the side off of it. If you dont figure it out, I would take your MOBO back and get a replacement. I had a bad board that everything worked on except it wouldn't recognise my CD/DVD drives The MOBO was screwed up where the ribbon hooked onto the board at. Bad solder from the factory.

I have also had this happen and it turned out to be the power supply cable Plug to the motherbaord. Some of the female pins in the cable connector weren't round, so they weren't making complete engagement with the male pins in the connector on the motherboard, I took a dental pics and forced them back to round they problem went away.

I had a similar situation (happened when I put the case door on) and something on the mobo was touching something it shouldn't have been causing it to short out so I just reseated it.

Try to reseat your ram also..
Where you careful when you placed your cooler on the processor? Use new thermal paste? Not doughting you, just checking. To much pressure on the processor can ruin someones day.
