im running a 220amp stinger alt with 0g stigner wire, 130amp you could probably go with 4g wire (preferably stinger) and you can either keep the same ground or go to the battery. hope this helps

ok i have everything hooked up and everything is working much much better now. i'm getting even voltage all around. but as of right now there is no fuse between the battery and alt. everyone that i have spoke to so far has said it is not really needed, but i wanted to confirm with you guys also. i was looking at a 100amp breaker at advanced that looked decent

well it's nice to have type thing i have one on my car (now) befor i was just useing the stock fuse size and wire i have steady power no issues wiht my big stario

now i have my alt go stright to my battier and then off my main feed line i just going to tie back into the stock alt wire

remmber wiht the 130 amp alt

you can still use the stock fuse size you can go higher if you want not retard high just atlest keep it in the ball park

i look at this mod as a pretty mod or big power user/ big sterion hot water tube in the back disco lights ect

oh yae in the end yes i whould put a fuse in

just put the stock sized fuse back in or tad bigger should be fine

the mod is mostly for makeing it look pretty cause the wire is very short so a big thick wire is not really needed but nice audio wire does look alot bettter then grummy old green/copper ish one

but i have this done to my car cause i have my alt wire ran all the way to the hatch were my battier is and i run 4 gauge wire if remmber right stock is 8 gauge

Go to any local audio shop and buy your self an ANL 150-200amp fuse and block. Its a smart idea to fuse the wire, so you dont melt anything...

From the Alt to the Battery?

Hmm

Last I checked. Toyota puts the output from the Alt to the battery directly. UNFUSED ;) (edit: this statement is INCORRECT!)

So if you have the battery in the same location as OEM. No.

If you relocate... Then a heck yes you need a fuse, and a cut-off switch and a vented batt box.

There is an alternator fuse in the fusebox right next to the battery. Or fusible link, rather.

More info on this stinger alternator upgrade, please? I'm in for this, and for the alternator wire upgrade (if there is one). Or is google my friend on finding out about the stinger stuff lol?

well i can give you a direct # for AAMP of America which is the sole distributor or stinger and an ex:

1-800-477-2267 ex 221 ask for arty, let him know chris gave you the number and he will take car of you. just so your not shocked the alt is about $500 and you will need to make some custom brackets for it and get a slightly longer belt too. if you need to know anything else let me know

Ill write down the number, thanks dude, I appreciate it. The custom brackets put me off of it, but I could fab something up here.

Ive just upgraded the battery cables in my jeep(very common mod). A jeeper makes custom cables using 1gauge welding cable, they are very well made and heavy duty.

He makes them in any length and asks in detail how to measure your current stuff. Maybe if enough people wanted them for the supra hed get a group buy pricing going. They are not cheap but should be the last cables you ever buy for the vehicle.

...yea the website is that horrible.

I went to replace the large wire on the alternator with a 0-gauge, but am finding that the wire splits up near the fusebox. I am adding a 160AMP alternator and am in a really good spot to address these wires. Pics please of what ya'll have done.

Do I need to use a small distribution block, where they all come together (before reaching the ALT fuse)? I've searched and still have no idea, or alot of time to keep searching. I'll need to put things back together VERY soon.

Like what's being done in this thread/forum, for the MKIV?
