Hey guys,

I was just gonna fire up my Supra after putting fresh gas in it and changing out the rad coolant. I noticed that the alternator belt is a little chewed up. The pictures make it look a little worse than it is, but the underside of the belt seems fine.

Am I an idiot for firing the car up with this issue?

I did start the car up a little while back and it ran fine until it died because of a weak battery.

Shouldn't hurt to start the engine, but I wouldn't drive it around like that. When it breaks there will be problems. The belt doesn't affect timing, so no issue there. However, it does drive the water pump so when it goes you will overheat very quickly. The belt is an $18 part and a 15 minute fix. FIX IT.
