alternate way to change oil?

relocate the filter?..:).. my mechanic used to do this for my car, but i was always sceptical if all (well, ALMOST all..) of the spent oil gets extracted! so i would alway get him to hoist the car and drain it the traditional way... thoughts anyone?

Imagine all the small metal filings that always settle to the bottom of the pan. Personally i wouldn't want to do this every change.
Plus this is old stuff.

i agree with you on that, would be way less messy than droping the pan on most. lucky for me the a340 has a drain plug :)

also as shown, in a boat this would be a good way.

Eh, did something similar, but backwards, to put coolant IN my Mk2 a few years back. Worked like a charm. I wouldn't do that with oil though, one of those Fumoto valves would be a better option to me. Plus, "8 quart capacity"? Crap, I think both of my cars have at the very least 6, probably 7 in the Mk3...
