It had been raining cats and dogs allday yesterday.I leave around 1am last nite to go a friends. I turn on to a side street that i drive on everytday, several times a day. I get on the road and i see a puddle, i think no biggie and ride through. Its about a foot or so deep, no problem. I speed back up get farther down the road and i see another spot, so i slam on the brakes.I entered the water thinking it as about to be as deep as the other spot.Boy was i wrong.I hit the water in 2nd gear first, and it started to bog down.So i slammed it down into first, and kept pushing.I got all the way in the middle and water started coming over my hood.I surely thought it was about to be over for my motor.I hit the a/c button real fast to freeup some extra power, and she pulled on thru, thankfully.

I get out of the water and theres like 5 cars lined up going the other way and they were all staring at me like they couldnt believe the little sports car just went thru the water. All i can say is luck was on my side last nite.

its the german word for the highway which is pretty much like a main artery running through germany.

german word for road - bahn, but the autobahn is germany's main interstate.

truth is, bahn has a helluva lot of meanings. its like bitte, too. that word has like 15 different meanings.

bahn could be translated into channel, or pathway, or railway, or course, or simply 'way'.

I'll bring things back to topic.

Damn Fuzz. That was lucky as shit! It made me sick just reading it.

Right after I left home, my mom gave my dad a ton of shit because he took their car on a fishing trip to Canada and had to cross some deep water. Somehow he ended up with water in the tranny (I didn't even know this was possible), which is a serious problem in Wisconsin winters. Water damage = bad.

meh, would have been no biggy if the engine did stall. (one of the reasons I always have a small set of tools in the car) remove spark plugs, crank over until the water is gushed out, start car.

hubby sank my 1st mk2 in a mudhole with 2.5 feet of water on top of the mud, reason the car stalled was the coil wire burnt off when it hit the water. We made a temporary coil wire out of speaker wire, removed the spark plugs as described above, and drove our asses to the junkyard for a new coilwire, lol

When I was in highschool I was on one of those fishing trips to Canada, and about 2 hours from home one of the trucks in our caravan broke its alternator belt. We had rolls of 3M strapping tape and made a belt from that, and it broke after maybe 20 miles. We figured we would just keep making it and limp home, but the 2nd one made it all the way home, got the guy to work the next day, and to a garage on his lunch break. Amazing.

Goodnews. I just went outside, fired her up and she sound normal.I let her get to operating temp, and raised the rpms. There was some slight missing @ 3k but after a few seconds it cleaned up.For shits and giggles i popped the hood to see how far the water made it. Theres was some blades of grass on the intake side and standing water on the battery tray.Had the water been a few inches deeper and a few feet longer i wouldnt have made it out.
