They finally opened HWY 90(beach drive) on christmas. I uploaded the pics today and decided to post some. Finally repaired one bridge now it takes me 10 min to get to work instead of 45.. Biloxi finally got 4 lanes of 90 open and gulfport has only 2 and some of Long Beach. Pass Christian as far as I know doesnt have 90 open. The 2 bridges linking the island coast are still out so getting to bay st louis and ocean springs you gotta take I10. Here are some pics.

One of the few structers to actually still stand after the storm.

The president Casino barg. It was actually floating in the water before the storm. The deal is they are suppose to sink these off shore casino's so they wont float away and come ashore.Well none of the casino's did and this one ended up on what use to be a fairly large Holiday Inn resort. Needless to say its not there anymore.

Where the president use to be parked. Out there in the water about a qtr mile out with docks and some roads heading out thata way.
sm_photo_missing.jpg

Treasure bay Casino's pirate ship barge. It moved closer towards the shore and is out of place and sand bars now. You can see thru it along the sides now as well.
sm_photo_missing.jpg

Some more of the once new parking lot. Cruising the coast wont be back for a while.(Hot rodders and new school event held every year.)

Don't mind whats hanging in the window. Its not meant for racism, found it in the woods and thought it was neat since it is mini and such. But closer view of the pirate barge.
sm_photo_missing.jpg

This is the parking bay where all the locals would park their rides and so would I fri and sat nights along the coast. In the back ground the pirate barge would be there notice how it isnt anymore.
sm_photo_missing.jpg

Use to be houses along here but barely any now. You can see whats left of a casino
sm_photo_missing.jpg

Whats left of 1 of our Surf Styles.. Florida people know what these are!
sm_photo_missing.jpg

Another shot of the road and such
sm_photo_missing.jpg

This is where waffle house and a bar along with Condo's that were there..
sm_photo_missing.jpg

Condo's were here along with a gas station and some housing.
sm_photo_missing.jpg

This was also another local hang out on the weekends near the pier. As you can see nothing much left of it. They were adding alot more to it before the storm too...
sm_photo_missing.jpg

whats left of the parking lot.. It was new too.
sm_photo_missing.jpg

Me in shock wondering when the coast will return to normal agian..

Yea its not so great. I would have felt horrible over my supra if something happened but I can't imagine how people feel after loosing homes and loved ones during this storm. There was a foot ball field behind my house way in the back, our property is fairly large and now that field is home to many with fema trailors.. sad very sad

Shit Justin, if you want someone to cruise the keys with you, lemme know! Im down for a trip south!

People dont understand, the pics dont do it justice, and when you dont have the "before" pics, its hard to put into perspective... The absolute power of a hurricane... That last picture reminds me of me on hwy 98 after Hurricane Ivan...

I remember that. Ivan did a good job of porking 98 - as if the traffic and drivers didn't already make it bad enough!

It's good to know that there is at least a chance that the hardest hit places can make a recovery. I just worry about what will happen next year. Hopefully next year will be my last one spent on this hurricane magnet they call the Gulf Coast.

I'd go cruising with you guys, too.. but my car is BHGed and I plan to sell it sometime in 2006 for the "saving money to help my transition when I get out of the military so I can live a normal goddamn life fund". When I can afford it, whether it is a couple of years down the line or further, I want to either get another MkIII or a SC300 in great condition for a 2JZ swap [GTE&6-speed swap if I get a SC300]. At the moment, I have champagne taste and a beer budget.

I feel like such an ass when I complain about my little day to day inconveniences and BS and then I think about what people in the hardest hit Katrina areas are still going though.
One thing that really bothers me, and I don't know why because I'm not the most compassionate human being, is thinking about the homeless. Let's say Joe Homeless Bum, who lives at the beach and doesn't have a TV or radio and doesn't really know what is going on, gets hit with the hurricane. He doesn't know to evacuate unless he starts talking to people or watching traffic.
Maybe it's better for him though, to have nothing; he doesn't leave his life investment and community to come home and find it destroyed or just plain GONE.

i must say it would be better to have nothing before to come back and see your life work destroyed or gone. To see memories gone forever. Dreams shattered then for some insurance refused turning the tables saying it was a flood. It's just a damn shame.

To all those affected, I'm sure the fight can be won, it just won't be easy, or quick.... :ugh2:

On a side note, I went to Wendy's today, and they said that they don't serve tomatos on any burgers anymore. They blamed it on the the hurricane..to which i was like wtf..
