Hi i'm from south san diego and i just bought a 87 n/a automatic supra for 150$. It has 200,000 miles a good running smogged engine with an oil leak and a blown transmission and 16 inch weds fins, so i got a transmission from an 89 cressida off of craigslist. I put it in this weekend and i'm up and and running now for less than 250$ fluids and all haha i did have to change throttle body cable, the tail housing and the sensor thats on it and i had to splice the two harness' together to make one because of the differences in the connectors. i have no first gear from take off (unless i manually put it in) and my o/d off light is flashing at me . i read a thread on here that says it is most probably either the 1st gear solenoid or a bad connection in the transmission harness. im guessing since i spliced the two into one with bud connectors it is hopefully the harness. Im gonna do some continuity tracing some time this week and well see if something comes up. im very glad to be part of the forum because i have found it very useful as of yet. I drive a 71 pontiac ventura and a 51 chevy fleetline right now, I've also owned four datsun 510 wagons and two coupes so needless to say i'm a carb guy and i need all the help i can get now that i'm venturing into the world of computer controlled vehicles.
