N/As aren't difficult to turbo, but you do need quite a few pieces of equipment to do it. By the time you end up doing the swap, you'll probally have spent enough money to buy a decent quality turbo MkIII.

For a full GE to GTE swap, you need engine, ecu, wiring harness, boost gauge, and a few other things that escape me right now.

I'm not sure what's involved with the 1/2 NA->T swap (turbo'ing a 7M-GE motor) but you definately need a turbo. (someone please post more info on it here -- I know nothing :p)

I searched for 6 months before I found the supra I wanted, in the condition I wanted it, but it paid off in the long run.

I suggest you keep searching ebay, autotrader, your local paper, and any other source of for-sale cars for a turbo in good shape.

much luck to you!

I bought a non running supra, built and engine, so I have a fresh engine and a fresh turbo. I have all the painting supplies already for it, and just need to pick out some wheels and tires. This was not a stock rebuild BTW. Grand total invested in car, $4800

It will be under 6k likely after the paint is done and the wheels on it. You should also consider building your own mkIII as an option, it comes out almost as cheap as buying one :)

I got my N/A for 1700, everything works!!! I'm just making it run clean till the end of the year, cause I"m gonna swap a GTE in it, errr my point being anyway that you mostly see N/A's cause they usually went and found a Turbo, he he

all you need to know about N/A -> Turbo conversion, thanks to dr. jonez.

by the way, i got my supra (86.5 N/A) off ebay for $820, and everything worked fine. i just needed to replace the brushes in the alternator, thats it. not a bad deal, eh?
