air in heater core

Recently changed the thermostat and now I have intermittent heat from the heater and a gurgling sound behind the dash. Guess I need to "burp" the sytem to remove air I believe. No sign of leaks.

Can someone advise please, I know I need to raise the front end. Do I run the engine and do I leave the rad. cap off? Is it obvious when its fixed?

Yes raise the front end as high as you can get it. Run with cap off and you will see the bubbles come out. I don't know how long you need to run it but I would think until a continuous flow of fluid comes out, then top off and try it. Or you might have the dreaded BHG if you hear gurgling behind the dash.

Quick note - you should never have to do this, the system is designed to evacuate any trapped air on it's own, within a couple heat cycles, after introducing air into the system (replacing the thermostat in this case.).
