Aftermarket Intake Manifold...

I like the idea of some of these after market Intake Manifolds that take the air in from the side... but, my biggest fear is that this would affect the air/fuel ratio of each individual cylinder.
There has to be a reason that Toyota put the "IN PIPE" in the center of the manifold... It would seem that the cylinder pipes closest to the "IN PIPE" would have more air then the cylinder pipes at the end... especially with a turbo car that runs such a large vacuum while idle and slow driving.

... It seems that I remember learning about this issue in theory class. It occurred in V8 domestic engines the most.

Please discuss this. Especially if you are a mechanic. (a real one)

The plenum and pipes are pressurized during operation, so the air is pushed into whatever cylinder is open almost equally one would think.

I can definitly understand where you are coming from Simple. But on the MKIV Toyota used a front facing manifold from the factory. So I cannot see how it could adversely effect very much if at all for them to put it on stock. Numbers:

Flow numbers are in. Done on a SuperFlow SF-600 flow bench with FlowCom and WinFlow.
Bone Stock Turbo Manifold (used to get a base line on the machine):
220.9
223
205.2
210.7
211.7
221.1

Stock Turbo manifold with just my conversation, no PnP or anything just TB moved to end and old hole blocked off(my personal manifold):
232
224.7
227.5
236.3
239.8
227.4
Interesting information! Some numbers work nets this...

Flows 7% better than stock
Flows more regular across all cylinders - stock deviates by 4.8%, modified deviates by 3.6%.

I come from a land down under
Off boost it might make a difference but once boost is + I doubt you could measure any difference in flow, as the guys have said you have a big plenum full of compressed air and as soon as a valve opens it heads there and so on through the firing order.

Sethron71 ( seth) and Ron Ramirez sell them.

Seth being the newer guy on the block I do believe knows Ron in person though? I did business with seth just recently. I am VERY pleased in the product he made for me!
Much less to say the customer support if you will!:icon_razz

SimpleIcon, the V-8s you are referring to are carberated, not fuel injected. The intake runners were "mazed" inside so that the fuel/air mixture would travel approx. the same length, thus obtaining a reasonable idle and power balance. Me...built several muscle cars.
