Does one exist?

I've been looking to upgrade my 86.5 front to the 89+ for years. Even bought an old JDM piece with the intention of doing so. Since then, I have regretted getting the JDM piece (butchered from where the front plate screws were pulled through, missing a bracket, wavy chin...) and I have looked several times hoping to find another donor out there. Upon seeing that every chin spoiler ever made is apparently wavy now, I started looking at the option of an aftermarket bumper since they typically have the lower chin molded instead of screwed on. Trouble is, so many kits look like a 1984 concept car and I'd like to have something close enough to OEM design that I don't look silly

to recap:

a) aftermarket front bumper
b) similar to OEM design
c) actually fits on the car..

Is there such an animal?

If your talking about the grayish silver car with black wheels it's a 89+ greddy gracer( maybe replica from shine ) bumper that has had the 89+ top piece removed. Custom basically. Looks sick.

I think they need to put up more pictures of their products on cars that arent black haha. It's always tough to see how it really looks. I'm also wondering if they have permission for some of those, as I believe that last picture is Mike Urbano's car from way back when, and he sadly passed away.

That gray one looks good. If I put that lip on over here it would get crushed on the first speed bump.
The Supra MKIII Spec-A Rear Add-ons would almost hide my DM exhaust.

It's a hole bumper. It can get scraped. If its just a lip you the least amount of mounting points so it can move when you scrape.

My car has the Greddy Replica from Shineauto Project

http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?147002-Project-88-MKIII-A-Calgary-build&p=1839228&viewfull=1#post1839228

Photo is on the link above. Quite pleased with it.
Something to note though, if you go this route on a pre-89, you need the metal valance that sits under the nose cover to mount the 89+ signal lights and grilles (the 88's are longer and of course have the single piece grille).
Also, you will notice on the my sig pic under my name on the left that there is a "nose gap". Mine is a bit larger than it should be because it isnt quite mounted properly. I need to put in 2 more screws in the IC opening to hold the bumper forward slightly, however the gap is normal for this bumper.

Swing up front license plate? What would that be used for? Being technically "legal" where a front plate is required?

Agreed, that looks very nice. I have one of these bumpers from Shine, it does look quite nice in person. Looking forward to actually putting all this stuff ON the car haha...

Dont qoute me but think the owner has a way to relase the plate in case he gets stopped or he just release's when he's parked. Maybe he does the James Bond bit when he see's the cops he just pulls the cable and plate comes down, it's porbably spring loaded like the old G.M. cars where you have the gas filler tube behind the plate. In california you need a front plate. Ask rodel he knows that guy.

Just going to throw it out there:

Front plates are silly. If you REALLY need to see my plate number, get behind me like every other cop that has ever pulled me over. I'm still debating what I will do as far as a front plate goes for the car getting all the widebody bits. Not exactly keen on the idea of drilling into a one off carbon bumper...

Just looked closer on the gray bumper and the pre 89 foglights don't go good with it.

Can always do the 89+ with the s2 air guide and a lip.

I like the idea, it's just a challenge to find an OEM 89+ in good shape. That's what I wanted to do initially but got to thinking an aftermarket might give better looks being that it was new. That's of course assuming it's an aftermarket with a good fit.. sigh. Where's my damn Easy Button?

The only good looking after market bumper for the mk3 is Gracer.

California requires front license plates. I've received a couple of tickets for not having it.

The retracting license plate holderis useful. Visible plate while driving. Hide the plate whenever you want, for instances like car shows and o photoshoots.
