afm bad

i had 2 afms go bad so i just decided to upgrade to the maft but i got a call from a friend tonight who just started throughing an afm code. As i was talking to him i realized that his went bad right after recharging his K&N filter and that is the same time that mine went bad.

Has anyone else had this happen? Is there anyway to clean the afm or rebuild them?

if you over oil your filter its possible that the oil could get on the lens for the AFM ruining it.

I've re-oiled my K&N a few times and never had any problems with the AFM afterwards.

It isnt re-oiling, it is over oiling. Yes coating the mirror can hurt its reflectiveness.

I agree with Lagged... I've heard of this happening on other cars running K&N filters as well.

I also had a bad AFM code (can't remember the number) but it wasn't the AFM at all. It ended up being a loose wire where my S-AFC was spliced into my ECU. Who would've thought that?
