AFC Neo backlight dimmer flashing?

Turned the headlights on for the first time today and my AFC neo backlight dimmer is flashing between the dim and regular settings. I wired the dimmer signal to the ashtray light, which I assumed would turn on and off with the headlights. Why would it be doing this?

Wire into ground instead of positive? IIRC the dimmer runs off the ground circuit and it causes issues with some electronics (had an issue with a headunit once before).

Ohhhh. I forgot about the dash dimmer. That's got to be it.

I'll just run a wire over from the headlight switch and be done with it.
