Hello,

Just a quick question, and a picture request really.

How do you tell the difference between AEM EMS V1 and V2? both share 1130 p/n. Are they coloured differently? I heard some V1's are in V2 cases? Pic's would help.

Yes aem does not make a plug and play v2 for 7m.

Aaron at dm does. It does not come from aem like that tho. He just changes the plugs to make it work.

The black cases are the V2 ECU's. They also have a 2JZ style plug set which is different than the V1's. That was the case for my 6100 anyways. The universal v2 box may have the same plugs, but I've not seen one personally.

exactly.

Its called a patch harness. Still does not make the unit itself PNP.

Aaron at DM replaces the plugs for the harness, hence why he charges a core charge for your old ecu. I'd call that basically PnP.

Basically PNP but AEM does not offer a pnp box. Same thing could be done with numerous ems' but this is all technicality and i lost interest in this

This is the Technical Discussion forum, so AEM does not make a V2 PNP box for the 7m. Driftmotion Modifies a V2 box to be used for a 7m. It is a PNP unit, but is not made fully by AEM.

To answer the OP's question. The AEM 1130 ecu is a AEM V1 PNP for 7mgte no matter what box it is in.

my v1 is a black box.

v1 vs v2 depends on your goals and your budget. v1 works great, it's just older.

The three tuners I have talked to locally are overjoyed when I tell them I have an AEM v1 for them to tune. They perfer it to tune with over v2. But they have had experience with those and other EMS too.

Yes it does now apparently. From what I was reading just last night at AEM.

And it will most likely never get flex fuel capability, so I would not recommend buying a v2 if you are looking forward to that.

Thanks allot guys.
So for me, obviouslly i have a 7m gte.

My goal is to go stock internal. Id be putting the V1 on my 7m with map (removes MAF). A DDP, I/C hard pipes and airfilter. Everything eles stock for time being, then im going to move to a 60 trim ct26. I'll get a company local to map it for me. So for my goals (400bhp ISHHHH) on stock motor, would it matter to me between a V1 and V2?

I've read also that the stock internals can handle to 500BHP? i dont want to start a argument. But this true / faulse?

Maybe I should post. Im looking for 400BHP what you guys recommend? I dont really like fuel ecu's. I prefure total standallown (Hence me wanting the AEM)

I've read; as i said above with stud and nut head and a HKS 2mm MHG?

400 bhp is possible with an upgraded ct26, walbro 255, lex afm, 550cc injectors, full 3" exhaust with a 3" turbo elbow or integrated 3" elbow. To get this easier though and safely, get a afpr and 2.5" hardpipes with a better fmic.
