So some guy suggest I get this cai system for my mkIII 1988 supra instea of the K&N fipk because the fipk is oil based and supposedly kills the afm...So I went to the AEM website and I dont see that the aem dryflow system is compatabile with supras. But he said he installed one on his. What do you guys suggest I do?

Btw, my car is totally stock with 120k miles on it. Should I do something first before I get intake such as a mhg + arp head studs? Rebuild time yet you think?

The AEM filter is just another filter. If you have the adapter pipe, just a matter of clamping it on your adapter pipe, as with the majority of the air filters out there. Don't buy the AEM kit, just buy the filter itself.

Do a compression check, if everything is good, just retorque to 75 pounds and mod away... :bigthumb:

Where do I find an adapter pipe?

Also, some guy just told me not to get cold air system cause it will get wet when I drive in the rain. Is this true?

if the pipe is low enough in the bumper it will get wet, yes.

And is this terribly bad for the filter/engine? I would think that the cai manufacturers would build their systems with this in mind and that wetness wouldnt affect it.

the concern with sucking water into the engine is that you can hydrolock your engine. water does not compres like air, so it gets into the engine an doesnt squeeze down. to be technical: this can break your motor. afm adapters are available at any number of online vendors. HFP i think, suprasport and 935 have them.

some cai systems say if you oil them they will not let water up in there.. so u have to weigh the good with the bad... water vs nice cold air

though if you are a turbo it will be hard to get the cai and ic pipes run
