just trying to gather some info before i make a decision, but can you use the AEM EMS and JZ coils together? if so, do you need any other special equipment like ICs or ignitors? how do you hook it up? because iirc, the AEM EMS only has 5 ignition outputs.

thank you

AEM by itself can not do it unless you adapt a 2jz ECU to the mkiii supra. At which case any other standalone that has => 6 cylinder outputs for both ignition and fuel can do COP.

CDI from the mkiii box multiplex turned off, paired outputs from CDI to coils..

exactly. well actually you pair up from the ignitor to the ecu. the coils each need and ignitor so you need 6 channels but only 3 from the ecu.If you want full sequential you will need and ECU other than the AEM.

that is not an AEM EMS is it.

I am well aware that you can run a AEM CDI, HKS CDI, MSD CDI or Motec CDI8 and get the same results. The AEM EMS for the 87-92 Supra itself does not support COP unless it is a 2jz ecu. Add a CDI and you can make that stock ECU do cop......

The ONLY EMS that supports 1:1 ignition is the Motec M600, AEM EMS UNIVERSAL and the EFI 1.4. I think the haltech 11k might also but that one I am unsure of.

AEM supports COP just fine. Just not sequential ignition on anything more than a 5 cylinder. Even a gigabucks Motec still needs an ignitor wich you'd have to source for an ignition upgrade such as this. The 1110 and 1130 AEM can run ignitorless with the AEM CDI and wastefire 6 coils with the 4 channel CDI (not using one of the channels).

You'll either need a new ignitor, a CDI or both, no matter how you slice it. You could get coils with inbuilt ignitors, like LS1s or whatever. There are plenty of ways to skin this cat but no magic ECU that is going to fire 6 coils sequentially with no ignitor or CDI.

Yep the haltech e-11 does full sequential.

The gigabuck motec does need an ignitor unless running coils with built in ignitors like the denso 9340, but it supprts full sequential ignition and injection for 6 cylinder operation (m600, m800 and M880).

The Motec CDI8 supports 8 cylinder sequential igniton operation.
