Ok so after getting a BHG and a year and a half later
im finally to the point where i think i can start it...

But im just not completely sure what to do to get it
prepped up so to say.

So far this is what im gonna do, please add if theres anything
i should add...

Fill it with 5w-30 and let it sit for about 30-45mins
then drain it, then put 10w-30 in it.

Add antifreeze.

Then i was told to pull the EFI fuse before starting
or something? Can someone explain this too me and
explain where its at?

Since the BHG ive add a New 2.5" Intercooler,
HKS SSQV Bov Vented to atmosphere, 57trim CT26,
New Stock Camshafts from dealer, and New Stock HG.

Is there anything i should do to prep the ct26? like add oil
inside anywhere?

Im tottally clueless due to the fact that this is my first
engine rebuild. So cut me some slack lol....

Thanks in advance!

After you do all that you want to do and are ready to start the car, locate the fuse box. It's right behind the battery.

Pull off the cover and pull out the EFI Fuse. The Fuse Box Cover has a diagram on it. Use that diagram to locate the EFI Fuse if necessary.

Pull the EFI fuse and crank the engine until you see oil pressure. Crank it over in spurts. Say...crank for ~5 seconds...let it sit for ~5 seconds...and repeat until you see oil pressure.

Once you see oil pressure, then you know that your oil system is primed. Including the turbo. After you see oil pressure, you can crank a little bit more for peace of mind.

After that, re-install the EFI fuse and fire her up and look for leaks!

You didn't say what you've done in the way of head bolts/studs; but, don't forget to re-torque after 5 complete heat cycles.

Good luck! :)

yeah, need alot more info.
did you do the bottom end? was it broke in? did it sit outside or in? head rebuilt too?
at a minimum I'd put all the fluids in, put a tablespoon of oil in each cylinder and run it around by hand a few times, let it sit for a day or so like that, turn it a few more times by hand, can't hurt to prime the turbo, fire it up, let it run a few minutes then change the oil, then do a break in procedure of your choice, etc.

Yea i did nothing internal wise, and i used ARP Studs 80lbs.
Waited a few days and retorqued it back to 80 again...

So after all that you guys said above i should retorqe it again
after 5 heat cycles? And by that you mean what?

5 overnight cooldowns after running..

I wouldn't bother pouring the oil in the just draining it unless you got a lot of crap in the head/block doing the HG...

Start the car and let it come up to operating temp (the normal spot on your temp gauge). Drive it around the block a few times or something. Nothing aggressive at all. NO BOOST!

Then let it cool down completely. 8-10 hours. As stated above, overnight is good.

Do this 5 times. Then re-torque.

The above suggestions regarding oil is for complete rebuilds. You didn't state the work, so we're all guessing.

If you're just repairing a BHG, then put cheap oil in for the 5 heat cycles then retorque and change your oil at the same time.

right now id rather not take the chance...

@ Kenny, alright thanks for the advice everyone...

One last question i guess, how many miles do you think i should
wait before i get on it?

I did a full rebuild on my motor and as soon as it got to op-temp I broke it in at full throttle. I was told to by a old friend who races supras. So I did. I've been running this motor for almost three years now and no problems so far. Knock on wood.

I'm just telling you what I did. Now I did a head gasket on one of my friend's supra and I just told him to take it easy for about a week of driving and then slowly start boosting after re torque.

The engine wasn't rebuilt, but yea I agree the best method for engine break in is WOT with some boost to seat the rings.

But its a used engine, and good to go. Run it like you're going to drive it. Just before you go beat the piss out of it makes sure theres no leaks and everything is good and tight, then drive it like you stole it.

Ok ill think about it loool.... but ill probably just go the better safe than sorry route..

And ive got a brand new stock headgasket...

Now what about Coolant? I have 2 jugs of peak coolant but ive
read on here a few times that green coolant will eat a supras waterpump up in
a minute? its 50/50 and says dont add water.... should i not use this green coolant and instead just use water?

Btw ive got 2 fittings on my radiator other than the big fat ones, theres 2 small ones, 1 at the top and 1 at the bottem? Do i just leave these open?
I think one is my resivour?

Also on my thermostate on the top of it where the 2 little plugs on theres no hose on niether one of them...

Woot, ok i did everything you guys said and i researched on the coolant and went and paid $50 for some red coolant from toyota, did the EFI thing but never got any oil pressure so i just put it back in and it started after about 3-4 cranks.

After doing so i let it run for a while then took it down the road and back really easy
and my Temp guage started going up, i freaked out and shut the car off lol...

Then while walking around my car i hear dripping... i freak out yet again lol...

Then look down the road and under my car and guess what i see?!?! Red coolant...

Yes all if it is on the road...

Oil for my car: $45
Gas for my car: $20
Clamps: $30
Forgeting a clamp on the rad hose and spending $50 on red coolant to find out: Pricless

But other than that thanks everyone for the advice! I appreciate it a ton.

I think I woulda freak a little moe about the no oil pressure thing instead of the coolant gauge moving a little hen going around the block.

WORD. Did you ever get oil pressure?? Because if you came on here to ask all these opinions on the best way to prep your engine, then just ran it with no oil pressure, I'm going to be pissed.
