I am changing my timing belt in my 87 mk3 n/a. I have everything off the motor and i figured since my ac does not work anyways I might as well take it off. I have the ac compressor off and I am wondering, can i take out the thing that the ac lines go to. I all ready have the radiator out and it looks like there is another one in front of the radiatior. If i dont need it then i want to take it out can anyone shead any light on this for me or maby what it is and what it does. thanks.

I'm doing somethign similar. Disconnect the lines going to the compressor, and then theres 4 bolts that hold on the condenser, take that out and the lines that run through the firewall can be disconnected as well, on the exhaust side

ok thankyou. I was not sure what the condenser was so i had to look it up. When i take it out it will open up more air flow to my radiator..... thats what i am thinking. i newly rebuilt the engine and just trying to rid excess extra weight and bring in more air flow. Does anyone know if I can modd 1jz 2jz cam gears to fit my 7mge????? I am putting my timing belt on tomarrow and i was just wondering.

ya i dont have heat, and winter is almost over here in ky so there is no use for it. the ac has never beeen charges so i am thinking of selling the condenser and the compresser. but i dont know yet. I might have other things i am taking off. my main problem is the can gears. I have har they will fit with modding but i am not sure..........

One thing I noticed when I took my AC out is the lines running to the firewall had some electrical wires in with it. I ended up cutting them all but two of them happened to be for the ABS. I re soldered them and they're fine now just something to be aware of when you do it.

Rip out everything. compressor, condenser, and whatever the canister is next to it lol. There are two lines running through the firewall under the charcoal canister. Disconnect everything from there and take it out. Make sure you keep the ambient temp sensor or you won't have heat.

Cool dude, your next mod should be to remove the loose nut behind the wheel. Your car will thank you for that one.
